Why doesn’t this surprise me? Perhaps it goes back to the Roman Empire
    “March I say! “
“But would it not be better to saunter casually in that direction?” :p.

Aussies tend to Grizzle a lot - generally do what they are asked, if they think it is reasonable, but always hold out the option of a good arse kicking of the government if it turns out they screwed up big time.

It is generally recognized by the medical-profession that not wearing a mask promotes the spread of the virus.

And not just in America. Everywhere ... !

Given what the Roman Empire did for the people living in Europe, I can understand why it prospered so very much.

It brought an Army that mastered the local-variety by ... uh, just killing them. This helped those tribes remaining to adopt the Roman Empire as dominant.

Which brought peace and trade and thus "a good life". Then all that came mysteriously apart and each Euro-country went its own way - and installed royalty as the governing principle.

Most of that is long-gone. Only Great Britain keeps harping about what the Royal Family is up to. Otherwise they marry amongst one another and look after the fortunes that they inherited from long, long ago.

Oh, everybody gripes at one moment or another. It's part-&-parcel of being human, methinks.

But, I've never seen any people who made it an "art" like the French do.

They even gripe at people who gripe in order to out-gripe them ...

When the cretins get together for their annual bike-rally. Count the masks!

I agree. But mask efficacy is not just a function of contact tracing. We could have never even attempted contact tracing and still benefited more from mask usage. One reason we lost control of numbers of infections initially was the recommendations against mask mitigation early.

That and the hold up with the test failure. Those couple of weeks put you so far behind the eight ball that contact tracing became useless. We, like a lot of countries use a phone app and QR codes

That certainly didn’t help. I don’t think we would have contact traced anyway though. My state got sufficient tests long before widespread community transmission occurred but didn’t take tracing seriously.

On technology like QR etc. half our population would see that as invasion of privacy. Right or wrong, it wouldn’t happen here.

When America invaded Iraq CNN was right up front filming the invasion...where were they with Gulf War syndrome? They covered it up.

They will do the same with the covid vaccine... it's horrific...

see below...you do realise these people have done little to justify the level of trust you are placing in them, in fact the results from their actions have proven exactly the opposite

When you think about it, they never found any WMD's in Iraq, the reason for the invasion and massive anthrax vaccine program, they then buried Gulf War syndrome.....which really is vaccine syndrome had nothing to do with being in Iraq because even soldiers who didn't go to Iraq, but were vaccinated had Gulf War syndrome....
....and now they're enforcing vaccines and demanding vaccine passports on the global population.

And there's people who say...nothing to see here, go get yourself injected...just trust your government....

answer me this....a vaccine should protect your from any unvaccinated person....so why do they insist on enforced vaccinations?

Hang on hang on - that is a definite logic fail. Did ANYONE know about Gulf War Syndrome BEFORE the gulf war?

Yeah. That is the bit that got really politicised - pity really because the QR code tying has helped a LOT

What part of “CORRELATION DOES NOT NECESSARILY EQUAL CAUSATION “ do you not get? You have a possible correlate but are lacking causal proof

I believe it’s probably the only practical way to make it work. Certainly the easiest/cheapest solution. My state tried the old fashioned way. May have helped some but certainly didn’t shut down clusters like QR can.

I believe what would have helped us more than anything in the tracing department would have been a test that could accurately detect infection during the latent period. Even when we were able to trace, the index case had usually been contagious for days and those infected by the index already contagious as well. At that point you are just mapping infections/spread not preventing many.

    EVERY SINGLE BEING

Because when you are infected with Covid, you then become a killer. Yes, you kill other people in the same manner someone has provoked death in your own body-system.

Americans seem confused with the fact that when the country is under attack - whether physically or medically - then ALL ITS RESIDENTS ARE POTENTIAL VICTIMS.

Covid is not some silly-game that is being played upon America. It is a deadly murderer of all-alI and sundry. the plague has, as of today, killed 4.3 million deaths! Now imagine the entire population of Kentucky having been erased from the face of the earth. Gonzo! Nowhere to be found! A state of empty of every single being!

Your statement above shows clearly that you have no idea whatsoever of how a virus develops, spreads and kills - again and again and again. And, thus, the fact that the infections must be destroyed within the population when found. And the only way to prevent the infection from spreading is to kill it wherever and with whomever it is found ...

The big impact is we have managed to localise the outbreaks and therefor the lockdown so instead of an entire state being in lockdown or even an entire city we can lockdown a local area

    Answer me this

Where the heck is the critical thinking in that question? WTF??

    a) Who is “insisting” on enforced vaccines?
    b) if everyone thought like this who would be vaccinated and who would be protected?
    C) a vaccine in NOT repeat NOT a force shield it is a way of training your immune system in how to deal with a virus - you can still get infected - you may even get a bit sick BUT a you will not get as sick as if you were not vaccinated

But please go play Russian Roulette with a rapidly mutating virus that seems to be taking down younger and healthier people

I think of it as Evolution in action

Yes it seems very effective there. I’m not sure Americans would not stand for being locked down while others were “free”. The general idea here is “I must make everyone suffer as I am or I’m not happy.” On the other hand everyone hates everyone anyway so trying it wouldn’t have done much damage there I guess. Can you image the social media and talking heads if Martha’s Vineyard was locked down but Cheyenne Frontier Days was allowed to commence? Or vice versa? We’d never hear the end of it. :)
