A couple of things came to mind as I read that. Trump was famous for saying "I don't know", or "I can't recall". In fact, he used those terms 36 times in reference to the Mueller investigation. The other thing is how odd it is that you're believing Milley now that it suits you - I thought he was a treasonous scoundrel.

maybe leave the 2500 troops so Kabul wouldn't be taken by the Taliban with a dozen motorcycles not before we were able to evacuate all Americans and allies so 13 troops and countless afghans wouldn't have lost their lives and hundreds if not thousands left behind

He very well may not be who the people selected. Turn out was the highest by far, ever, in a presidential election. Election security measures were widely suspended, and there were more ballots than ever with just the President voted and no other race. Could be the work of crooked local officials and high speed copy machines. It's very difficult to believe that Americans would elect someone this stunningly stupid to our highest office. The man is magnetically drawn to the worst possible decision, seemingly, for every situation placed before him. Obama said it well: "Never underestimate Joe's ability to **** things up." That was cute while he was relatively powerless, it's an unbelievable situation for our country to be in, and we are only 17% into his term and look at everything he has screwed up already.

We can be confident that he will completely screw up everything he touches. After the 2022 elections, the GOP should be able to at least diaper him and take some measures to minimize his harm to all of us.

2500 sounds about right to leave remaining to insure all American civilians and allies were evacuated and base remained open to do so
