We don't know what the cost would have been if you left 2500 troops over the deadline.

I agree that military likes prolonged wars. But military doesn't have the power to prolong one. Our military is headed by elected and appointed civilians who make these decisions. The constitution set it up this way.

Going to Afghanistan in the first place was the problem.

Yes they did but not the way Biden chose to leave.
So why did Biden decide not to leave those troops there while civilians were being evacuated?

Apr 15, 2021 · When Biden took office in January, about 2,500 troops were stationed in Afghanistan, the lowest level since the beginning of the war nearly 20 years ago in 2001.

It was advised that 2500 troops be left in Afghanistan and that is how many were there when Biden took office in January. I have to wonder why Biden chose to remove those troops before evacuating the civilians?

Biden said he did not recall.

    Getting in was the mistake.
Getting out by May 1 was the solution which was rejected by Biden et al.

3rd time. I have no idea why Trump signed the treaty to leave nor why Biden followed. We should not have left.

    Biden followed the wrong advice.

what he said was they debated it, but did not have a consensus on that, had we stayed, more American soldiers would have died, was that acceptable to those that wanted the war to continue?

the war is over... about time

We did not have to occupy Afghanistan to kill those responsible for 911.

Biden definitely made the decision to get out of Afghanistan.
I agree that leaving was the wisest choice.
He also made a mistake with the plan, but none would guarantee a smooth withdrawal.
The only way I would vote for Biden in 2024 is if Trump or Cruz was running against him.

We got into Afghanistan when Reagan was in the WH. That was a mistake.

    This is just amazing.

An "adult"(chronologically speaking) putting their hands over their ears and going "La la la! I am not listening! I am right and you are wrong! La la la! I can't hear you! La la la!"

This guy considers himself the adult in the room too.
