The problem is not the parents wanting babysitters back. The problem is stupid chicken heads like this woman think she’s just there to babysit kids and not educate them. You’re not a babysitter you putz. You’re an educator. Do your job.

many on the right disagree with this, they think Children can only learn in public schools

at least that is what they say when a school closes over covid fears

personally, I think it depends on the parents and the child

the reality is, most parents can not afford to have one parent stay home full time to train their child, even if they could do it with video training and Computer based Training

Lol how about you prove yourself correct? I’m sure there are a couple Republican teachers in Chicago, I’m sure they’re free loaders and not members though.

What the real question is what the school system did with the 3billion in covid relief to make the schools safer. Fo that kind of money you could put the teachers in a bubble, so what was done with the cash that us taxpayers gave them?????

COVID is / is going to be endemic. People need to get that through their heads. You're not going to avoid it forever just like you're not going to be able to avoid the common cold forever. Trying to order your life around the singular goal of avoiding COVID is moronic. The teachers calling in sick are showing that they're too stupid to be trusted with the responsibility of educating children. They should be fired.

Maybe they figure they'd rather be unemployed than dead. Over 1 200 teachers have died of Covid so far. You can call them stupid, but maybe dying for another mans political agenda is even more stupid. Polk County, FL, which is in the middle of nowhere lost 17 teachers.

Its the way AJ argues. I could give you some quotes if you want. Basically, I answer posts at the level the poster works at ... kinda like what I do at school. He's made many a post exactly like that so that's what he's getting in return.

It's Chicago. That money went into the trust fund of Lightfoots cronies as well as Lightfoot herself. Maybe some went to The Lollipop Guild.

I know a lot of the money here went to plexiglass shields and a TON of materials for the kids and teachers. I have so many gloves ...

Tell them to wear a mask and take the poke and then git their ass's back to work like the rest of the folks making this country limp along!

I'm trying to think of a more miserable time than the year I had to teach online, and all I had was when I was stuck in a hospital bed unable to lift my own head for months.

Why any teacher would WANT to go back to that baffles me.

In her defense, I've had several parents talk to me and treat me as if I was some glorified babysitter as well.

They can't be replaced. I mentioned a huge teacher and sub shortage earlier, and it's nationwide. Districts are literally poaching other teachers from other districts where I am ... I've been contacted by former principals myself maybe four times this year. Many other teachers I know have similar stories.

The wages for a teacher are seriously low.
So stuff like this will make them run off to a better paying job for sure.
And the original corona virus came and went, Delta is on it's way out and so will Omicron.
So scare them off now, and you won't find people to fill in the ranks in some months.

A teacher can just as well become a cop. Small difference in telling how children should behave vs adults.
It pays a lot better while the bar is a lot lower in how you qualify for the job.

It is time for some mayor to stand up to these unions and have a Reagan ATC moment. Then let's get rid of public sector unions who can engage in such illegal strikes against the taxpayers. FDR, AFL-CIO President and labor supporter Mayor LaGuardia or New York all warned about public sector unions and how the relationship between a government workforce and a private sector workforce are entirely different and suitable of a unionize labor force.

Schools are allowed to impose mask mandates? Ok, maybe your area has some kind of exemption to the order.

All my grand kids are in schools in full operations. NO reports here about schools not being able to open.
