Is that why everyone around me seem to grow up without being sensitive little failures? Keep pretending that coddling children from facing up to their actions or punishing those who would punish is the way to go.

Doesn't lead to great results. You can pretend all you want, but it's very easy to see where this goes.

My wife is a former teacher who chose a different career path because she didn't care to not be able to physically discipline her charges when they were literally committing felonious assault against her and other students.
That situation is not this situation. A kid new fished her, pulled a 'let's **** with the sub a little bit', and she lost her **** and started barking like a ****ing dog. She does not need to be a teacher as she cannot handle the job.

Teachers should be respected and paid more, certainly. Hard to justify that when they bark at their charges like dogs and act like a ****.

Private schools have that option because the children are placed there by voluntary contract, and the teachers are not representing the government.
That's not available in public schools, full stop.

Not being a bullying **** is not coddling a child. If she wanted to take the time to correct him and teach him, she could have. Instead she decided she'd be a sarcastic ****.

Indeed your method of casual child abuse by authority figures did not lead to great results. YOUR generation created the problem when you taught your children who have grown up and are now teaching theirs in the opposite manner because they thought all ya'll were ****s.

That is not "bullying", its "busting chops". I've had teachers to way worse to me when I'm in school. She's doing him a favor because that kid is going to be a huge target for REAL bullies when he's older if he doesn't start identifying as a human being.
    MEOW!!

That is bullying. Let the kids in the class bully little Mittens at recess so he learns, that's not the teacher's function.

If she wanted to correct him with a comparative biology lesson using materials from the science textbook that would have been fine.
But that's not what she did.

    My kid comes home sad;

    "Why are you sad, son"
"The teacher made fun of me at school and everyone laughed at me."
"Why did she make fun of you? Were you doing something wrong?"
"I asked her to meow to me because I said I identify as a cat"
"You were being a dickhead...don't do that."

Boom. Teachable moment. Kid is now better off.

    Instead we have;

"Hey dad! I got the teacher fired today because she wouldn't meow to me when I said I identify as a cat!" tee heee

Your society sucks ass and will turn into mushy ****. Need proof? Look at every liberal/progressive state in the US for examples of shitsville.

With a few variations, I agree. The big picture is the task of creating the next generation of capable adults. I've taught, but not taught kids, so I have no direct experience there, especially in today's environment. I do however know a number of teachers through other projects. It's depressing to hear what they have to put up with and unfortunately it's not just undisciplined students, but school boards. IF we leave teachers no options, it becomes impossible to do their job. Apparently your wife found herself in that untenable position.

One thing is for sure is that I would never want such an unhinged, vituperative and petty woman teaching my 8 year old.
This is the best way she can present the facts? she sounds like your crazy aunt at thanks giving. And she is supposed to be teaching? (not that she has any respect for it clearly, as she thinks being a substitute teacher is just about taking roll call)
Anyways, I don't have much of an opinion about what actually happened as we only have this one sided, not particularily cogent retelling of the facts.
One thing for sure is that that woman should not be teaching 8 year olds in any way shape or circumstance. If you are that unhinged when trying to present your story in front of a camera, I can't imagine what she would be like in a position of power with 8 year olds.....

While I would never believe a liar like adam shifty shitface that Trump had colluded with the Ruskies, I sure as hell would believe this woman's story as to how and why she got fired from her teaching job. Her audio video didn't look like it was coming from the halls of Saturday Night Live, or from the studio of the CNN propaganda channel.

Speaking of alternate universe. I literally said "I don't have much of an opinion about what actually happened" since I really did not have all the information. So I specifically said that I was not making any call about the right or wrong of this woman getting fired. The ONLY thing I was commenting on was how unhinged this woman seemed. How little emotional control she had. How she was unable to make her agrument in a cogent and poised manner. How vituperative, bitter and mean she seemd to be. And that is what made her unfit for teaching 8 year olds.
Really funny that you accuse me of living in an alterantive universe and yet you were unable to actually read the words I wrote and understand them, and ended up creating an alternative universe where I said a bunch of things that I suppose you wanted to imagine me saying. Pretty firckin ironic. Alternative universe indeed.
RUFF outing for you on this one....

Teachable moment that can come instead from:

    Dad I'm sad
    why son
I tell the other kids I'm a cat and they bully me.
Well bullying is wrong, but you're acting like an idiot and bullies like to target idiots. If you didn't make yourself a target, you'd have a better time of it. Now here's how to throw a punch and here's how to keep your guard up.

^ This one will happen, kids being the amoral little monsters that they are you can always count on the existence of childhood bullies.
What you don't need is the kid now fearing telling authority figures about their disordered mind for fear of bullying from the authority figure. Now they don't trust them. More over, now the class entire has taken a cue from the teacher that your kid is fair game.
Its unnecessary, unprofessional, and incompetent as a teaching method.

Your alternative universe is clearly seen from this particular response. You're calling this teacher unhinged, showing little emotional control, that she was bitter, and was unable to make her argument in a cogent and poised manner? You got to be kidding. She heard a meow from a student and in return she make a bark or some sound that sounded like a dog bark, and she gets fired for that and you consider her to be unhinged and unfit for teaching a wannabe cat? Wow!

I am going to put this forward because I think this is an important thing by to realize.

She’s a substitute teacher. She’s not the teacher. She’s a sub. It’s not her job to “fix” this kid, ignoring this how kids behave normally. I mean kids use their imagination. Either way, it’s not her job to deal with the kid. She’s supposed to be professional and mark the kid down as present. Let the teacher who is normally in deal with the kid. A comparison would be if a person was sick so they had a sub take over for a bit. Said sick person comes back healthy and finds out the sub didn’t do what was expected of them and instead did things their own way. Making it even harder to catch up.

Sub didn’t need to call the kid out and shouldn’t have. Enough said.

Not involved in this blown out of proportion story.
But an an adult should not act like an 8 yr old kid. Especially, the teacher.

If it needs to be explained, afterall you said she barked like a dog. I see what the issue could be.
