I wonder if @Kal'Stang would call your behavior idiotic.

Sorry Cap'n, there is not such an exception in their ethical standards, she was aware of that, and she violated her ethical standards by mocking and belittling one of her charges.

A kid pretending to be a cat is not identifying as another species, and another child using a word she likely doesn’t even understand is not an authority on the matter.

If this was an isolated incident, it would be meaningless and forgotten. However- it is a confirming incident in a long chain of such things; it demonstrates that the lunacy of "woke" and similar flights of fantasy are not rational observations of practices, but more the spreading of a contagious, brain-eating disease.

Thing like pronouns- we've been admonished to refer to a woman as a "birthing person" instead of a woman??? Massive and totally insane confusion going on here. The idea that just by saying so, you can "identify" as whatever gender or thing is your fantasy wants to become at the moment. To even give these things a moments consideration or tolerance is to embrace insanity. The result is chaos- not knowing what the hell is real and what's rubber room material. Biden is "identifying" as a president, sometimes too. That is when he's not referring to president Harris as president. At those times, he's just an old man wandering around DC with a silver alert team searching for him. God help us.... And I'm not religious, but we need all the help we can get here.

8year olds should not be interupting her class with nonsense like this story. It only is a cheap call to attention, trying to get the teacher to jump through the students hoops.

It brings nothing positive to the class and only serves as a waste of time and attention.

It should be ridiculed and punished to prevent others from doing this.

The teacher was wrongfully fired and her firing only encourages more of this idiocy to occured in our classrooms. Further degrading our children's education

I agree, it really and truly seems like a 'let's **** with this sub' moment. Which is why she should've simply marked him present and moved on without further comment, and certainly not with breaching her ethical duties so she got fired. I mean, when someone tries to get at you letting them get the reaction they were looking for is failure. She needs to harden up.

Which is, again, why she should've simply moved on without further commentary.

Ridicule is not something a teacher is allowed to do to her charges. That she did is why she got fired and won't be able to sue.

She most certainly was not wrongfully terminated, she even helpfully without coercion or prompting revealed her own words from her own mouth on tape which very much were mocking and belittling the student which violates her very clear ethical duties.
She let the kids new fish her, and she promptly pulled a karen just like they'd wanted her to. She got outwitted by 8 yr olds dude. 8 yr olds.

Considering the kid charged out of class, yeah...kid wasn't pretending.

I think you need to learn to differentiate between "bullying" and "mocking". Maybe if children were mocked a bit more we wouldn't have so many snowflakes in the country. This whole everyone gets a prize so no one feels bad crap is enough to make me puke. Children NEED to be taught that the world is not a nice place. And they need to learn how to deal with it without throwing a temper tantrum.

If the "ethical standards" means treating the child like a newborn then it can kiss my nether regions.

Teaching the kids how to handle life is. Supporting their fantasy (by either "meowing back" or ignoring it) of being a cat does nothing but promote that fantasy and will not help the child learn anything.

And yet she is not allowed to teach by belittling or mocking her charges. If she wanted to take time out to correct him, say by comparing human and domestic feline physiology and pointing out the parts on him that are clearly human and not cat like at all, as a teaching moment, we'd be having a different conversation.
She didn't do that, instead she barked like a dog.

I doubt the kid ran out of class because he thought he was a cat. Kid was just mocked by his teacher, which from the way she presented it in the video, caused the class to laugh at his expense. Sounds like a bad experience for the kid. Could have been handled better, plain and simple.
You know what, you’re right that the world isn’t a nice place. It’s filled with people who would attack a kid for being silly and having a bit of fun. It’s filled with people who lack empathy to such a degree that they can’t understand why a young child being mocked by their teacher is a pretty devastating experience. It’s filled with people who have forgotten what it was like to be a kid.
Let children be children. The world will beat them down soon enough. No reason to be in a rush to get them there.

Is there any evidence that this story (even if true) has anything to do with woke?

The kid made a cat sound and the teacher made fun of him.

Are there really people who believe that the child was "identifying" as a cat and the teacher was fired for not bowing to the transpecies movement?

I think them believing that would mean their arguments were coming from a place of honesty. They just see this as an analogue for trans identities. The word “fantasies” has been doing a lot of leg work in this thread.

Maybe a few too many of them have read Johnny the Walrus.

We are not robots. The teacher was dealt a ridiculous situation and I think her reaction was warranted.

I grew up in an era where teachers had the freedom to ridicule in deserved situations.

We've gotten stupid as a society by encouraging this nonsense.

So what's the next step? Lawsuit? Teacher ruined? Media coverage?

Yea, i guess it's not any better either way.

Either someone doesn't really believe it, but cares more about pwning the libs than truth, or they are so stupid they believe that this is the natural progression of allowing gay marriage.

I suppose society was better when we rationalized or even encouraged bullying.

She didn't have to be a robot, she only had to not bark like a ****ing dog while mocking and belittling one of her charges which she knew to be a violation of her ethical duties.

You likely grew up in an era of segregation and lots of other fun and interesting things to talk about that have no bearing on whether or not the woman violated her ethical duties in the present day.

That's as may be, she still stepped over the line she knew to be in existence.

You may want to rephrase that.

But to your actual point, (I don't ignore a persons point just because they phrase things wrong unlike so many others on this forum)... The teacher apparently had no problem being fired for putting her ethical standards above that of the idiocy promoted by the schools "ethical standards". I wouldn't mind either if I were in her shoes.
