    Full Title:

Chinese plane, a Boeing 737 with 132 people on board, crashes in province of Guangxi, state media says

WARNING: There is a video at the link that's graphic (if anyone is sensitive to that).

China needs to get their safety protocols in check. First, COVID-19, they had a resurgence with the variant breaking numbers from first round to hit their country and now this.

    What do you all think?

    I think I don't want to get on a 737.

Everyone on that plane was important to somebody or several somebodies. ;-)

The reports are still developing; however, as of now, there are no signs of survivors. A hotline has been set up for family members of travelers on that flight.

Such disasters used to be much more common in China. Their safety record is improving.

Been a while since I heard of a chinese plane crash. Seems to me that while they're statistically innevitable, they're statistically still safer than driving.

And a hell of a lot more boring and a PITA which is why I still prefer to drive anyway.

Like we, the United States, don't have airplane crashes?

Second, China Eastern is not the only airline in China. There are more than a dozen airlines in China with China Eastern being the second largest i believe. China Sourthern is their largest airline and has a fairly modern fleet of aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, among others. In the history of China Eastern, they have had maybe a half dozen or so accidents, since 1988, in their history; according to the link below.

Finally, until the black boxes are found and the investigation is completed, we won't know if it's pilot error, mechanical error, etc. .From the article, it may appear mechanical failure because the airplane suddenly dropped when cruising at 30000 feets over Guanxi Province, Southwestern China. Guangxi borders Vietnam and has historical signifance in early Chinese history. Bur appearances does not mean proof.

Some posters are clearly not reading the article in the OP. According to the Article, it was a 737-800, delivered in 2015.

Would you mind idling the engine a bit? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

This occurred in Guangxi Province, which borders Vietnam. It is extraordinarily beautiful, mountainous country... but probably presents sudden challenges to aviators.... Rest in peace.
