In both cases there was still choice and consequences for that choice. Now with changes in one instance there is no choice and in the other consequences for that choice have become illegal.

I don't feel constrained, either. Even though I opposed the individual HI mandate and my state doesn't require auto insurance to drive, I carry both health and auto insurance. I also think it's important to distinguish between rights and privileges here. Our government was instituted to secure our rights, and it's up to the government to conform to that obligation. When it comes to privileges, the relationship and expectations between the individual and government, as well as what I think you mean by the "liberty interest", are different.

Yes they do. The reason we still have text books in the information age is that someone got a sweet government contract. Those that support the right politicians can get their proboscises into the taxpayers blood stream. Text and information is 100% free.

You don't have the right to refuse vaccines and therefore put your co-workers in jeopardy

Well, if someone says they support the vaccine mandate they're saying "Government knows what's best"...

Yes, all three would be consistent in that respect. I believe I alluded to that in the opening post....

It's hard for me to imagine to imagine a greater injustice than allowing someone who doesn't know the individual or the situation they are in and has absolutely no role in the question whatsoever, to impose their personal value on that persons life-altering decision- then walk away with zero accountability for the consequences, and tell themselves they are righteous for doing so.

Yet, millions of people exercised their right to refuse vaccines and didn't put their co-workers or anyone else in jeopardy.

Oh so you are saying that when a new variant comes out that is much more transmissible for unvaccinated than vaccinated people, people will finally get their vaccines????

No, I said your post was a Logic Fail (on several levels), and I'm confident that the vaccinated will continue to contract and transmit the virus.

I encourage everyone to decide for themselves whether to get vaccinated or not.

    Erm...I wouldn't disagree.
Which makes the republican campaign promises comical at times...Its government knows best for people with money, and how to keep them safe, sprinkled with lies to keep the poor voting against their best interests.
At least with Democrats, they do it for the poor and working class. But once most break through the glass ceiling, they typically go republican. Most democrats I know though don't believe government knows best.

They sure are, It's individuals and their doctors who know what's best, not a bunch of self-serving politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC.

LMAO!!! Ah, yes, because Democrats - the Party of BIG Government - know what's best.

    Comedy gold.

Democrats do it for themselves and the wealthy "progressives" who line their pockets. The only things they care about are power and control....

I refute it because I agree with vaccine mandates and STILL don't think that govt knows best.

You can't reconcile the inconsistency in your argument.

An individual and his/her doctor know what's best for that individual, not a bunch of politicians and bureaucrats who have never even met that individual.

Uh sorry but if you want to contain the spread of a disease you HAVE to get as many people vaccinated as possible, i guess if it were up to you polio, smallpox, etc. Would still be around.

Mandates do not dictate who knows best, its whats required to have certain things function, like society.

For instance without vaccine mandates, entire civilizations are just wiped out. So its not that government knows best, its nature knows best in that scenario, and government is required in order to educate people, and incentivize them.

Citizenship, insurance, licenses, environmental hazard protection, etc.

Now not supporting a woman's right to an abortion is "Government knows best".

I am vaccinated for polio and smallpox, so I've done my part to ensure that they won't still be around.

Nevertheless, an individual and their doctor know what is best for that individual's health care, not the government. If an individual and/or doctor determines that a vaccine is harmful and/or unnecessary for that individual they know better than the government does.

Again, if you think you need to get vaccinated and it's safe to do so, by all means, get the jab. Your body, your choice....
