American laws make it easy for anyone to get a gun that can kill dozens of innocent people.

 

More and more powerful guns:

The Inconvenient Truth: Ban Guns and criminals will obtain far more powerful weapons.

 

That's the problem.

 

This happens much more often in the US than elsewhere.

 

Now you get it.
The only thing that can effectively stop an armed violent criminal in the act is someone with a gun.
Only an armed public can keep the public peace.

 

Another good reason for making sure that far more Americans start carrying concealed handguns.
They need them -- right now.

 

What happened yesterday is a direct consequence of the proliferation and over-accessibility of guns, two things that have been part of the Republican political agenda forever.

 

I suppose it depends on what you mean by "This" and "elsewhere". Some places have far worse gun violence (and violence in general) than the USA, and some places have less. Even within the US, there are places that have far worse gun violence and places that have less.

 

So, let me get this straight: some guy went to a store in Mexico, bought an assault rifle and started shooting people at a hotel?

Because if this was a drug gang or anything like that... you're talking unrelated B.S., and wasting our time.

If the killer had not had access to a gun, this massacre would never have happened.

And there were armed guards in the school when he entered.

He still had time to massacre 19 children.

 

No country in the West has a worse record than the US.

I agree that we need much stricter enforcement of laws on the books, too.

But I am not expecting ANY law to be 100 percent effective. I would settle for a percent reduction in the frequency and severity of mass killing attack's.

They obviously needed more armed guards at that school, and they should have aimed at the head and legs. Body armor matters.

 

Mass shootings happen when the public is disarmed by Big Bad Government.

 

I would much rather live in a country where school shootings are possible than where they are not.

Why would anyone support unnecessary and ineffective restrictions on the exercise of the right to keep and bear arms by the law abiding?

 

Have you insisted that the schools provide ample armed security?

 

When most Americans start carrying concealed handguns there will be very little public violent crime of any kind. Not perfect, but much better than what we have now.

 

I do support it. Just because a law is not 100 percent effective doesn't mean it has no effect.

I am okay with a 15 or 20 percent drop in mass killing because it's harder to get rapid killing weapons.

Why aren't you?

 

FYI, even the most wonderful parents can have problem children and vice versa.

 

Ought to start looking at cultural degradation, fractured family units, and mental health.

Statistics show that most people that do this types of horrific things don't come from a family with instilled values and a cohesive family structure.

 

All violent crime, including gun crime, goes up after the public is disarmed. Surely you know that.
