Wasn't the date on your link, Aug. 2021? Things change. This is almost a repeat of the Russian collusion question. It may matter from a legal standpoint whether there were conversations between Trumpers and the Proud Boys. Regardless, the PB and Trump were trying to achieve the same thing........as was Trump and Putin.

Proud Boys and Oath Keepers were in contact with Trump inner circle, Jan. 6 chairman says
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...ers-contact-trump-inner-circle-jan-6-chairman

Let's see exactly what the committee has in the way of evidence.

Running I don't know about. Pushing conspiracies, yes, she is. Unquestionably. Just as she did in 2020. Absolutely. That's what the OP and here recent luncheon remarks are all about.

The Russia-Trump collusion narrative of 2016 and beyond was a dirty trick for the ages, and now we know it came from the top—candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. That was the testimony Friday by 2016 Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook in federal court, and while this news is hardly a surprise, it’s still bracing to find her fingerprints on the political weapon.

Robby Mook is hardly a Republican operative.

He largely tried to pull off a bloodless coup, I'll grant you that. We're going to disagree about his responsibility for the 1/6 riot and the violence that ensued. In that regard, amazingly, I'm with McTurtle and McCarthy.

‘I’ve Had It With This Guy’: G.O.P. Leaders Privately Blasted Trump After Jan. 6
In the days after the attack, Representative Kevin McCarthy planned to tell Mr. Trump to resign. Senator Mitch McConnell told allies impeachment was warranted. But their fury faded fast.

I'm happy to see an updated FBI report. But I suspect that the agents are too busy preparing for the night of rage after Roe is reversed to want to re-interview a bunch of uncoordinated nuts wearing horned hats and who have pleaded guilty anyway. Show some mercy.

That's 7.5 months after the riot, so yes.

As mentioned, I am happy to see an amended FBI report. But what is that going to reveal? Will the rioters change their stories? Will new texts from Jan.6 appear on their already seized and dissected phones?

Even if they do change their stories, were they lying on August 20 or are they lying now?

He has never accepted the result and continues to push the fake election claims, so I don't see his denial has receded at all. And his continued claims of fraud, against all the evidence to the contrary, are surely causing real damage to public confidence in the election system. "At all costs" may have been hyperbolic. Yes, the military weren't invoked. But is that because he didn't want to cross that line or because he was told it was impossible ? (MTG 'couldn't remember' if martial law had been discussed with Trump. That is striking.) I would guess the former.

She was not running in 2020 either, so how is the "what about Hillary" line relevant? We are talking about the Texas GOP platform right now.

That is the bottom line with Democrats. If they lose elections they claim democracy is lost.

That's what you got out of what I wrote?

The only way to save democracy is for us to hold ALL politicians accountable. Both sides. If one seems to be getting out of control, we speak out. We demand something be done.

If I'm understanding it correctly, she is saying that the party to whom the Dems could lose are 'anti-democracy'. Hence, the loss of democracy.

She is talking about THIS republican party. The party that endorses Trump. That won't be forever, but for right now, the democracy is in jeopardy in her mind.

The GOP has normalized insurgent violence. Members of Congress gave recon tours. There is no accountability in the GOP for violence, violence is actually acceptable, there is no accountability for trying to find votes, for suppressing and suffocating voters, making it harder to vote, and when they are in power, they don’t govern with respect to popular opinions or popular will. We are getting an unpopular and extreme political project pushed on us.

Are you agreeing with me? Yes, she is saying a loss to the Republican party is a loss of democracy. Therefore, the only way to preserve "Our Democracy™" is to make sure the Democrats never lose.

It looks like you were wrong about the attack being Coordinated. As you were wrong about weapons, which you're trying to ignore now. As you were wrong about the number of insurrectionists. As you were wrong in your interpretation of HRC's comments. The whole pretext of your OP is ... wrong.

Okay, here is why I won't be watching CNN ever again Republican National Committee, testified that she received a call from Trump and conservative lawyer John
I really hate that kind of thinking, too. You see it in other areas. "If you don't support the repeal of the Second Amendment, I guess you just like dead kids."

"If you don't support unqualified Medicare for all, you want to see people die."

    And so on.

    1. No it hasn't.

    2. Some, maybe, but not for the purpose of knowingly facilitating an insurrection.

    3. Yes there is.

    4. No it isn't.

    5. Yes there is. "Suffocating voters?" My!

    6. All you have to do is put up better candidates and they will surely win.

I'm just curious: what is your preferred news source? Mine his the Wall Street Journal.

Apparently, you just hate any thinking that looks at the truth. Conflating HRC's remarks with repeal of the Second Amendment or Health Care for All, lumping them into one thing when they have noting to do with each other is disingenuous propaganda at it's worst.

HRC's saw January 6th and the whole conspiracy to keep Benedict Donald in office for what it was ... and is. An attack on the foundation of Government BY the People.

No matter how you try, you cannot change that simple warning. Donald Judas tRump and his cadre of conspirators are a Clear and Present Danger to These United States.

That's all fine, but your question was: [W]hat was Trump's intention? Was he trying to 'protect democracy' or was he trying to stay in power any cost?

To clarify, my answer is no, he was not trying to protect democracy. No politician to my knowledge does anything for such a noble purpose. He, like they, just wanted to win and yes, stay in power.

But nor was he trying to stay in power "at any cost." If you ask a person like me a question like that, I am going to think of Nero, Idi Amin, Genghis Khan, Pol Pot, Ferdinand Marcos, Stalin, and Hitler and find absurd their being compared to Trump. Of course, some see no difference between Trump and those characters, who were of the "at any cost" variety. After all, Trump murdered every single person who died of Covid during his administration. Haven't you heard? And America "Just doesn't care." So sad.

    https://www.salon.com/2021/11/18/an...ndoned--mass-murder-america-just-doesnt-care/

And you could probably find a few people here who would agree with Noam Chomsky that Trump is WORSE than Hitler! https://www.nationalobserver.com/20...ociety-trump-worse-hitler-peasants-are-coming

    Am I right, gang?
