You can't relive the past. Capitalism and capitalists move forward to new conditions that prevent any return to anything. You can't reverse the rotting of an apple. You have to cut out the rot and move on.

Right. 50 years ago gas was 33 cents a gallon. Ribeyes were a a little over a buck a pound. Inflation was almost negligible. Let's get back to that! DRILL BABY! DRILL!

    One question for you.

If raising taxes on the rich is a solution, why cannot it be done now? Have the rich now become untouchable. Heck, there were plenty of happy rich people in the 50-70's. what has changed now that prevents them from paying higher taxes?

We need to go back to the gold and silver standard. Leaving it is what screwed us thanks Nixon.

Oh I noticed the IF. I just figured you threw it out there to give you an excuse for saying something ridiculous.

Your red line is at odds with your blue line but your dotted line brings the orange line into perspective. The green line is totally at odds with the gray line, but they average themselves out. Why has English failed you?

So when the system guarantees food and shelter for those who want to be an artist (because they make beautiful things), then everyone will want to be an artist.

Now you are talking common sense, given that giving something to someone that they want makes it very hard to take it away from them thereafter.

Meaning that our nation is screwed and will not recover from that error.

You're no lefty. You speak the BS of the right and reject common sense assessments, making it pointless to try to reason with you. That's why I had you on "ignore" so long, and I see you haven't changed.

Here's you current dose of common sense: you're saying that the 70% of college graduates have ignored "common sense assessments" if they ended up with crushing debt. I think it's time you learned some facts about the subject.

they may "want" to be artists, much like a lot of people want to be rich. Unfortunately, only the ones with true talent get the prize. That is not an obstacle, as reality wins every time.

Thank God for that! Artists don't help me travel, keep me warm, feed me, put gas in my tank, or do anything else I need. I'm not the artsy-fartsy type at all.

So the free market and capitalism will sort them out, right? Sort of like it works now? Perhaps I mistook you for one of the posters who is advocating socialism. If so, my apologies.

Meaning that you are economically motivated only. That is fine for you, but you are not helping the country be all it can be. I can see a future where money is the only thing that drives Americans. Education (which has dropped), service (which has dropped), tilling the fields (which has dropped), art exhibitions (which have dropped), a drive for knowledge (which has dropped) will all disappear. \

There will be nothing but rich left and anyone not rich, will die. Our country will be populated by the rich and dependent on other countries for everything else. Great outlook, right?

Correct: socialism invalidly extends the equal individual rights of all to access and use natural resources to include the fruits of others' labor; capitalism invalidly extends the rightful private ownership of the fruits of one's labor to natural resources.
Right: private ownership of the means of production encourages productive use.
More relevantly, it forces the productive to subsidize those who are privileged to own natural resources, especially land, thus reducing efficiency and production incentives.
No, socialism prevents the most productive from allocating the means of production for maximum efficiency and production.
    I.e., geoism.
The closest to the geoist ideal have been Hong Kong and more recently, China.
They do well enough with capitalism, but could do much better with geoism.
It is inherently impossible for any system but geoism to be fair.
The geoist system would enable all to reach their potential by ensuring all received just compensation for the removal of their natural individual liberty rights by exclusive land tenure institutions.

I do not advocate socialism. I advocate common sense. I advocate the middle road and not the extremes. All extremes are bad.

Education is a required tool to earn money... be it college or a trade. Service? What sort of service? Repairing goods or military service? Tilling fields? Farming can be very lucrative. Farmers work for profit. Art exhibitions can drop for all I care. Drive for knowledge is wonderful. I made a bunch of money with a patent I authored for a "Six degree of freedom piezoelectric platform for laser aiming". Great stuff.

    Fake News.

Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice,
Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.

I advocate personal responsibility, not freebies. That comes from being a taxpayer, I guess.

All I see in your post are the words production, socialism and geoism.

Are we humans or machines? Does the standard of living start with money and end up with money and all in between is money too? Love, enjoyment, health, friendship, appreciation of others, and general peace of mind are no longer important? Are we in a world now that putting money in our pockets is the #1 reason for living?

again, money is the basis of your goals and pleasures. There are a lot of things in life that cannot be bought with money that are as important or more than money..............love for example.

I prefer to earn love than earn money, if that is the choice given to me.
