Maybe that's why you can't understand anything I wrote. Try reading the other words, too.
Money is just the medium of exchange. Like all other living organisms, we face the problem of scarcity. Production, allocation and exchange relieve scarcity, which is the ultimate purpose of all economic activity and all economic systems. I'm not sure there is any clearer or simpler way to explain that to you.
In addition to not reading >90% of the words I wrote, you seem to have been reading quite a few words that were not there. I was talking about economic systems -- see the thread subject line -- not how people can be happy.

I was motivated to make a good living to make a comfortable home for my wife and kids, be able to travel with them, eat well with them, provide an education for the kids, afford good healthcare and have no worries about such things. We've seen Les Miserables from London to California, cruised through Alaska and the Mediterranean, and enjoyed a boatride on the Seine. I have friends all over the country and the world and enjoy them immensely. My three kids are through college now with no debt ( one got a full scholarship) and are doing great. My wife and I are enjoying retirement with a jacuzzi on the back porch and a walk-in tub in one of our three bathrooms. e still travel a bit as our health allows.

Right -- you are just confused about exactly who it is that has been given what, and how (hint: the idle, privileged, parasitic rich get an order of magnitude more given to them than the idle, unemployed, parasitic poor -- ~30% of GDP vs ~3% -- while numbering an order of magnitude fewer: ~1% of the population vs ~10%).

Everyone should rightly be guaranteed just compensation for the forcible removal of their individual rights to liberty because they are human beings. Personally, I don't want to be an artist, and very few of the people I know do, either. I'm quite happy trying to educate economic ignorami on the Internet.

Well, if you are using common sense, what do you think is easier to fix...........30% of a problem or 3% of a problem. After all, the idea is to fix the problem for the other 67%, isn't it? Justice and fairness no longer being important, right?

You did not address the question. Do you prefer to earn love or money?, if you had no other choice!

Forget about what others are doing, and focus on your own actions and choices.

PS: Rich folk don't owe you a thing. And to suggest they owe you merely because they earned more than you, is outrageous.

I gave up trying to save the world. I think I've done pretty good providing for my family and leaving a legacy of three great kid. It actually took a lot of effort over my adult life to give them a good home, good educations, travel, values and, hopefully a wonderful future. If everyone did as much we wouldn't have all the problems you focus on.

    Bingo.

These people seem to live in a bubble which excludes any kind of appreciation of human nature. It's incredible.

Both. I deal in the real world. There is no choice of one or the other here in reality.

You keep on avoiding the question. It is that you do not want to answer it because it wrecks your point?

Of course, there is a choice. In fact, it is actually a real choice in most cases given that people do not fall in love for what they own or have but for the kind of people they are. You need to be a kind, fair, just, and loving person for someone to fall in love with you. If you love money, usually only the people that want to use you for your money get near you. Selfishness is the antithesis to love.

First, now I KNOW you must hold some very corrupt understanding of what Left means. I'm probably the only actual socialist in this joint, so technically there's no one here as Left as I am. Mirror time for you, dear. Time to recognise you've been seduced by Progressivism (an elitist ideology) so hard that you have barely any Left left.

No idea what that second point means, sorry. Kids from poor families have no business taking degrees that won't qualify them for immediate full time employment in the field of study. If they proceed with such a reckless idea anyway, they're either insane, or very freaking entitled. I say entitled because they would necessarily have to believe they're too special to earn their keep and pay off their debts.

The Great Depression was brought on by too much personal debt and too much stock speculation fueled by borrowing. The rules allowed people to borrow huge amounts relative the value of the stock they owned which allowed them to control large numbers of shares. If the price keeps going up, they make a bundle and looked good on paper. If the price drops, they lose money by the same margins or multiples. It's called "excessive leverage."

You can still do it today, but you have to borrow the money using other assets. A lot of the problems in 2008 were caused by stupid mortgages that were given to people who could not pay. When you have ridiculously low down payments and mortgage payments that cover only the interest, you are headed for trouble. But that's what happened.

What we had in the 80's etc was an overload of people who thought they could indulge their 'art'. Far more than nature allows for as a percentage of 'worker bees'. That's part of the reason we're in the pickle we're in today.

We're returning to a more natural ratio, which is a very good thing.
