I do not care what his motivation was he violated the Espionage Act. by taking classified ( small c) info and distributing it to others who did not have legal access to or obviously a need to know. He needs punishment and he needs to learn a new career for when he gets out of prison. There is car wash gang supervisor, pig killer for a slaughter house, rota rooter sewer diver do not require computer access.

When I was a volunteer worker at my local VA the Computer Access cards were synced to the person not a work station. As a volunteer I did not have a dedicated computer I used any one that was not being used. After the COVID Fiasco when Vols came back we found out no more computer access for Volunteers they hired a salaried worker to do the job I was doing before. COVID.

Federal employees and military use Computer Access Cards not passwords.

With the CAC any work station can be used. But you cannot access classified information from just any work station, just those in designated secure areas.

I spent 25 years in IT doing every job along the way from help desk to CTO. I never knew anyone's password, and never needed or wanted to. But, I sat at people's desk in front of their computer, logged in as them, with access to everything they had access to, pretty much every day as I performed my duties. I had a pile of hard drives that came out of those computers in my office, with who knows what on them after upgrades and repairs. I imagine junior IT guy found himself in that situation as well.

Now, I'd like to think that classified national secrets would be a little better protected than the PCs in a manufacturing company, but I don't have any confidence that they actually are.

Government employees and military no longer use passwords, they have Computer Access Cards. Classified information can only be accessed at designated secure areas only on a Need To Know basis. The airman had help getting the information.

He should just say that he didn't have knowledge or intent..... Seems to have worked out pretty well for a certain woman after the FBI investigated her shenanigans

Unfortunately for the lowly airman he’s not a member of the privileged class.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression the altered casualty figures first appeared on pro Russian platforms which would indicate that the figures were probably changed after they 'escaped' from the invite only Discord group. In other words pro Russian activists or government agencies simply changed the real figures to suit there own narrative, something which less face it they have been doing as a matter of routine since day one of the war. (The thrice destroyed Ukrainian Air Force comes to mind as an example.)

Of course the above also means that if Teixeira wasn't the person who decided to release the classified reports out into the wild i.e. beyond that invite only Discord group then one or more of his game playing friends are also probably ******** themselves right now.

They needed a patsy. This doesn't pass the smell test. Our government is absolute :icon_shithappens:, corruption as far as the eye can see.....and people are biting on the 21 year old story. Nope, ain't buying it.

The least he could do is not scamper off to Muscovy and hide from justice for his "heroism."

Is it possible for a low level IT specialist to sit down at a computer that is already logged in as a higher level employee, to troubleshoot a problem for instance?

Except Trump’s documents were secured and he had the authority to de-classify all of it.

Biden’s were piled up in the corner of his garage and in a closet and he had no fe-classification authority when he took them.

He wasn’t an IT guy. He worked with classified information. He should spend the rest of his life in prison.

Whats the difference between a 'leaker' and a 'whistleblower'?

    What was in the documents?

Motivations of the leaker in question.

Classified information that he had no right to disclose on a Discord server.

Do we know his motivations? Like, has he stated any?

What is the nature of the 'classified information'? Clearly it was stuff he didn't have a legal right to access (duh...). But is it stuff that exposes potentially improper, irregular, corrupt or unlawful activites?

rump never declassified it, and he was not President at the time, so had no authority, just like Biden
