At least one of the members said the leaker had access to the intelligence materials through his work.

Several of them, however, insisted that the leaker wasn’t a whistleblower and had never meant for the documents to be shared anywhere other than their online chat.

“This guy was a Christian, anti-war, just wanted to inform some of his friends about what’s going on,” one member told the paper. “We have some people in our group who are in Ukraine. We like fighting games, we like war games.”

I wouldn't say we *know* anything based on what these guys are saying, but at least it's something.

I saw on the news on how he was arrested. In the UK, probably 2 or 3 officers would have gone round, not several in swat gear, rifles, hiding behind armoured trucks lol.

Who said this information had to be hacked? The sad truth is it looks like dude simply had access, and availed himself to that. I doubt there was any hacking required. It says a lot about how lax the infosec folks in that command are.

Okay but they should go after the site where he was posting them or let Assange go free, one or the other.

Did the site offer advice on stealing the docs, recieve those docs & then independently post them?

Pretending that Assange was some innocent party who just happened to own a website where someone posted classified documents is on the same factual level as claiming the 'Swedish b!tches' (his words) who accused him of rape & sexual assault were part of a 'CIA honey trap' (also his words). If he hadn't been a sexual predator he would have been walking free years ago. Karma sucks.

Even if the airman exposed illegal activity in Ukraine by the US? We learned US special forces are in the US Embassy in Ukraine. Were we told this? No. Do Americans care? Probably not.

The 'Swedish b!thces' (if he actually said that, but I doubt it) would have been leveled at the female justice b!tch who wanted to prosecute him on false (read non-existent) charges.

The girls in question (not the b!tch) never accused him of rape. The CIA with the prosecuting Swedish b!itch did try to coax the girls into an "after-the-fact" honey pot scenario but the girls refused. Get your facts straight. You ought to really learn what is happening in the world rather than allow your imagination to run free reign.

What 'sexual predation' are you talking about? He didn't rape or sexually assault anyone and it's only the justice prosecuting 'b!tch' who claimed that he did ...... not the girls who slept with him.

Fair warning  I'm watching now so you're not getting away with this BS rant.

As expected the face of the Republican party comes to the defense of the leaker using the "white Christian male" persecution complex line. I wonder what her comment would have been if the leaker had been black? Clearly she said what she said based only on the fact that the guy is white.

Marjorie Taylor Greene defends National Guardsman suspected of leaking classified docs
    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...uspect-leaked-classified-docs-probe-rcna79675
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday defended the man arrested in connection with a high-profile investigation into leaked classified documents.

In a tweet just hours after the FBI arrested Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira, 21, Greene, R-Ga., praised his alleged actions and implied President Joe Biden was "the real enemy."

“Jake Teixeira is white, male, christian, and antiwar. That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime. And he told the truth about troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more,” Greene, a member of the Homeland Security Committee, said on Twitter. "Ask yourself who is the real enemy?”

Same question I asked in 1971 regarding Daniel Elsberg, a hero of the left.

Age has nothing to do with this. You should research the Walker ring. A Chief Warrant Officer, his son a junior enlisted man and the uncle who was a Senior Chief. All worked in Naval communications.

He was an IT Guy who maintained the networks.

Why does the National Guard have access to this kind of information in the first place, let alone a 21 yr old IT geek?

Maybe not, but rank should, and anyone who is only 21 can't be of high rank, and should not have access to this kind of material.

That information was provided before we learned it was a US military individual who stole classified information. Now the new narrative is someone in "the group" changed some of the information. It couldn't possibly be that all the information is true? The only way to know is if the original information is reviewed. I suspect this will go away very quickly for obvious reasons.

You don't seem to understand how the military works. Junior level enlisted and officers can receive Top Secret clearances. Everyone receiving TS clearances undergo an FBI investigation. Age has nothing to do with whether someone is going to break protocol. Communication specialists need to work with all classified communications. An IT needs to work on computers no matter where they are located. Someone broke protocol, whether intentional or not and the IT was able to remove the information from a secure area.

That is most likely the case. People tend to get too comfortable in their job. No one wants to believe they are working with a person who is capable of stealing secrets that can potentially hurt the US.

Unfortunately for Snowden most Americans don't want to know to what extent the US government will go to hide it's dirty secrets.

Again, why does National Guard have this info, and why does 21 yr old low ranking IT guy have access to the content? And no, you do not need to have access to content to maintain networks.

I guess more people have access than people realize, but maybe that should change.

A Putin apologist who refers to women as b!tches is upset that another Putin apologist who is a sexual predator and calls women b!tches is being correctly labelled a sexual predator. And now that Putin supporter who calls women b!tches is 'watching' me. That is beyond funny.

Here's a hint, you won't see much of me from the cesspit you have chosen to jump in.

You will find that answer here. My guess is the Airman gained access because someone broke ComSec protocols. Maybe some unintentionally walked away from a secure workstation before signing off and removing their CAC. I'm sure an investigation will discover how the Airman gained access to classified files and how he was able to remove them from a secure area.
