You're telling me what is necessary in my country? Isn't that edging close to telling us how we should live? I totally agree no place is 100% safe, which includes the US. The question is whether shifting gun laws in either direction would make a place more or less safe. I'm confident that a shift to an American style relaxation of gun laws in the UK would generally make us much less safe.

Not if there is sufficient public demand for it. We still have a modicum of democracy here. ;)

Probably despised because they tear up stuff and disrespect property and other people. There are some hunters like that here as well. For a few years there was a group of locals who hunted coyotes with greyhounds all winter. They cut my fences and never fixed any. They pretended they were doing us cattlemen a favor by thinning the coyotes but they mostly killed the ones that will never be a predation problem anyway.

I lease all my ground to one man now for hunting. I don’t charge him much but he’s very good about keeping other people off my property who don’t belong. That’s the main reason I lease at all. He’s a meat cutter/marketer by trade so doesn’t waste anything either. He hunts deer and sometimes turkey. He drives about 4 hours one way to come here and usually stays about a week.

It’s very different here in my part of the US. Many kids (boys and girls) over age 6 post Facebook pics of their deer each fall. It goes in the freezer or a processor turns it into jerky. Helps feed the family and gives kids something productive to do that seems to give them more respect for killing and firearms. More students have died from eating granola bars with peanuts in them given to them by teachers than have died in school shootings here.

One of my neighbors paid for his vehicles and a lot of college tuition by hunting and trapping during his high school years.

I’m not sure how UK shotgunners do at the olympics but I’ve heard they do well in qualifying events. There are definitely shooting sports in the UK.

You picked the right word, modicum, meaning "a small quantity"...

If your dog isn't trained to take pigs, you're going to have a dead dog.
If your dog IS trained and is solo without a stab vest, you're going to have a dead dog.

You ever shot at a sounder of wild pigs? They don't run away. They charge you.

Well that and they don't hunt the foxes to eat or really even for sport.
They use so many dogs, and so many men both horsed and afoot that its not a sport at all. Its a ritualized slaughter game for the gentry.
They hunt the foxes, lop their tails off, and paint the newbies faces with the blood.

Which don't get me wrong, we have a version of for first time hunters. But that's of an animal they hunted alone, dragged back alone, and processed alone.

Pitbulls we're bred to hunt wild hogs, true. But, they were bred to hunt in packs, not one on one.

Why do you own a pitbull? They're more dangerous than guns

Idont own a Pitbull, it's what most gangsters have here though. You put your hog against my Pitbull and claimed I'd have a dead Pitbull, was this merely a fantastical claim on your part?

A grown wild pig will take down your non pit fighting dog pitbull.
Their skin is tougher than teeth can make it through in most cases, and they have knives on their face. They out mass the dog and they are ****ing vicious.

We're getting off-topic here, and going back a bit but I don't see how that contradict my point.

The UK (like the US) is a representative democracy, not a direct democracy. We don't have binding referendums (we don't have many at all). Parliament remains the definitive decision making body (just as Congress is in the US). They could have technically blocked Brexit but would likely have faced an electoral backlash as a result (even from some remain voters).

My Pitbull as in my British bulldog, a dog that is symbolic of UK, fyi. It's metaphorical.

That said, you've conceded plus you also tried to bs me. I actually thought your hog might be a threat (since we're not familiar with them in UK) but it seems you talk bravado, nothing more.

I agree that’s not appealing to very many folks. Quite different than how I “hunt” fox. :) I’ve killed some fox but not without good reason. We lost thousands of dollars worth of goat kids to a fox a few years ago. That fox got shot.

And English bulldog? Oh, he's dead before it even starts, up against a wild hog.

We reintroduced the timber wolf in WI because a bunch of city folk forgot that they eat livestock, people's dogs, and sometimes children.

But it ain't the wolves that you gotta worry about unless you are a farmer or a dog owner. It is the city folk that are the most dangerous.

Your second video there is only about 40 miles away from me.

We see lots of deer in my immediate area but not many hogs even though I'm sure that there's got to be some there.

And I don't mean like countywide I just mean in my little area. Any pigs around here will quickly get shot on site and either left to rot or harvested.

I took a hundred pound plus hog some years ago with a 44 cap and ball it went through both lungs and it ran 15 ft and dropped and that was it.

I don't think an English bulldog would stand much of a chance against a hog.

I don't think that UK fella there realizes that we put dogs on hogs for fun.
