Ha Ha! March showers, April flowers, more May flowers!! It all = Spring is finally here! Ha Ha! just a little silliness! Thank you Daisydotell
Your avatar reminded me of this..except for the green color..[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx47qrH1GRs&feature=related"]YouTube - One Eyed one Horned Flying Purple People Eater[/ame] Welcome to the forum.
The West and East coasts have their ocean views, the mountain states have their ...purple mountain's majesty...but the Great Plains beat them all... acres and acres...of sunflowers. because you can't be in a bad mood around sunflowers.
TRUST NO-ONE!!!!! Don't worry - it's only the first 10 posts that are moderated, for all new members - we have to check that new users aren't just spammers (believe me, we get plenty of them trying to join to advertise all sorts of nonsense!). After that they will appear immediately after posting.
This forum is huge. It says there were 47 post made since my last visit..a few minutes earlier. Impressive.
You think that's a lot - I signed off at 7.30pm last night and came back on at 11.45am today and I had 4200 unread posts.
I'm sure this is a common question but why is it taking so long for a mod to approve my intro thread? Did they take the day off?
This place makes the other big board I came from look pathetic. And if I only had 100th of the activity this place has at my board I would be thrilled.
We have a number of mods (and advisors) on the staff, but how long things take depends on how many of us are online (we are all volunteers, so have real lives to live as well as running things here) and how busy we are. Obviously we try to do things as quickly as we can, especially when it comes to approving posts from new members, but as you can see this is a very large forum, so there's lots for us to do. Apoligies for any delay you experienced - moderation of posts is only for the first 10 or so anyway, just so we can check that new members aren't spambots and the like (we get plenty of those that we need to weed out before they flood the forum with adverts). Once that initial period is out of the way, you will be free to submit your posts with instant results! Welcome to the forum.
Thank you! I know exactly what you are refering to. Just giving you guys a hard time. I mod a new much much smaller vBulletin board and for how small we are right now we already spend half our time watching for and banning spam IPs. I can just imagine how busy you guys get here. If you don't mind me asking, how big is your staff here?
In total we have 14 Moderators and 6 Advisors. Obviously, not all of those are able to be active all the time - all of us are unpaid volunteers, and real life sometimes has to get in the way of our forum duties - so the actual number staff 'on duty' varies. Most of the staff are based in the US, but a few of us are 'foreigners', which helps us to cover things while most of the US sleeps (this being an international forum, with regular contributers from all over the world). We mostly keep on top of things, but obviously on a forum this size and this busy, there's no way we can examine every post - members using the 'report post' feature to tell us when rule violations have occured is very useful (almost as useful as members just obeying the rules in the first place, which always helps to make our lives easier!).
How long will I have to wait before I can actually see my posts? It would be helpful if I could actuall see them somewhere and edit if necessary. Thanks.
