Besides the fact that the media has no issue calling it by it's name, rather than "holiday" like Christmas gets?

Yes I see all of the candles lit. I'm not jewish, and may be mistaken...but I dont think you're supposed to light them all?

Yea, Obama gives a whole Christmas Tree lighting ceremony and talks about Jesus being born and we still get the right wing crying.

    What a bunch of crybabies.

    Happy Holidays.

Thanks for confirming in your belief that when I say the Media, it's really Obama. hard to get that admission from the left these days.

The shamash is lower than the other candles.

Which of course could be a matter of perspective and angle. Judging by the fact that the president's shadow is lower than him, it would appear the photographers are above him, which cold make the shamash appear to be lower than the other candles.
    Here is a larger picture.

Dunno where to begin - everything is wrong with this picture. But the biggest of them all - why does he celebrates hanukah 2 weeks before it arrives? I mean, WTF? Could he not take 20 min of his precious vacation time and congratulate his Jewish American citizens from Hawaii and on Holiday day?

Its an insult, so far as I'm concerned :puke:

So Obama talked about "his Muslim" faith - ooops, errrr... I mean, "Christian" faith. So now what religious hoodwinkery is afoot? His Jewish faith??? Better watch out standing behind that menorah - wouldn't want to offend Iran.

By the way - to be kosher, the middle candle holder is supposed to sit higher than the others. It's called the shamash, the worker candle, the one which is used to light the other candles. So maybe this is the anti-menorah. All the other candles light the worker. That would seem more fitting for him anyway.

what tells you he won't do that also?

But today he is PHYSICALLY inviting Jewish people to celebrate with his family in the White House. And this accomplish two things: it honors Jewish traditions, without interfering with the dogmas and traditions that are so dear to Jewish people.

religions are manmade. god is universal, and men place their cultural twist on God.

so by honoring many religons, Obama (and many open minded people around the world) is actually demonstating that he believes in one, universal God, untouched by the limitations that men impose on that one God through their culturally based "interpretations" of manmade dogmas.

    Great post.

Indeed, as a claimed Christian (though I think he is about as Christian as I), Obama would worship the same "god" as Muslims and Jews, the "god" of Abraham.

    Allah

In pre-Islamic Arabia, Allah was used by Meccans as a reference to a creator-god, possibly a supreme deity.[3][4] Allah was not considered the sole divinity; however, Allah was considered the creator of the world and the giver of rain. The notion of the term may have been vague in the Meccan religion.[3] Allah was associated with companions, whom pre-Islamic Arabs considered as subordinate deities. Meccans held that a kind of kinship existed between Allah and the jinn.[5] Allah was thought to have had sons[6] and that the local deities of al-ʿUzzā, Manāt and al-Lāt were his daughters.[7] The Meccans possibly associated angels with Allah.[8][9] Allah was invoked in times of distress.[9][10] Muhammad's father's name was ʿAbd-Allāh meaning "the worshiper of Allāh"[9]

    The Three Goddesses

Allāt (Arabic: اللات‎) or Al-Lāt was a Pre-Islamic Arabian goddess who was one of the three chief goddesses of Mecca. Pre-Islamic Arabs considered her as one of the daughters of Allāh along with Manāt and al-‘Uzzá. She was placed in Taif.[11][clarification needed]
Al-‘Uzzá (Arabic: العزى‎) "The Mightiest One" or "The strong" was an Arabian fertility goddess who was one of the three chief goddesses of Mecca, Arabs only called upon her or Hubal for protection and victory before war to show how important she was.[12]
Manāt (Arabic: مناة‎) Was one of the three chief goddesses of Mecca, Arabs believed Manāt to be the goddess of fate, The Book of Idols describes her as the most ancient of all these idols. The Arabs used to name [their children] 'Abd-Manāt and Zayd-Manāt. Manāt was erected on the seashore in the vicinity of al-Mushallal in Qudayd, between Medina and Mecca. All the Arabs used to venerate her and sacrifice before her. The Aws and the Khazraj, as well as the inhabitants of Medina and Mecca and their vicinities, used to venerate Manāt, sacrifice before her, and bring unto her their offerings... The Aws and the Khazraj, as well as those Arabs among the people of Yathrib and other places who took to their way of life, were wont to go on pilgrimage and observe the vigil at all the appointed places, but not shave their heads. At the end of the pilgrimage, however, when they were about to return home, they would set out to the place where Manāt stood, shave their heads, and stay there a while. They did not consider their pilgrimage completed until they visited Manāt.[13]

Yep, two weeks too early and he lit all the candles.

You would think they would have enough respect for a religion and it's celebration to get it right.

Oh and this is what he had to say about it.

"So while it is not yet Hanukkah, let’s give thanks for our blessings, for being together to celebrate this wonderful holiday season. And we never need an excuse for a good party. (Laughter.) "

Yourkind of Obamahater will ALWAYS find a way to gripe about ANYTHING he does, or doesn't do!

As my Montana raised father in law would have said: "youwoud complain even if they hung you with a new rope!"

Get a life, and spend a little more time looking at what YOU do right or wrong!

Yeah - the same "god" - - that's probably why believers in the three faiths get along so famously.

    Excellent point.

It is truly amazing that folks could have beliefs so similar, beliefs that incorporate the same fables, yet all three groups are so blind they can not see that they are more alike than they are dissimilar.

He knows all about Ramadan though.

He hates Israel, has embarrassed and put down Netanyahu on several occasions. He thinks Israel should go back to the 67 borders so they can be slaughtered like sheep. That's the only things he knows about the Israel/the Jewish faith and Hanukkah.

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
