White House proposes pay increase for federal workers

So here we have it folks. A pay increase for civilians who work for the federal government are getting raises! while people are still out of work, and while Obama is slashing our military service member numbers.

 

Most federal employees vote for the Party of Big Government so it's just a political payoff.

 

You get a pay raise every year; why shouldn't they? It should be a two way street you know.

 

I own my own business, I don't get a raise every year.

 

Because Der Furher has to borrow the money from China to pay for raises for government workers in America.

I think we should cut their pay instead of raising it.

 

How much would you cut their pay by?

 

I assume it will be a collective decision and not one that I get to make all by myself.

But I would settle for about a 5% cut in pay and a freeze on federal hiring until the budget is balanced.

 

I would cut it by at least 10%. Also get rid of many government agencies.

 

What litmus test did you do to come to your conclusion of 10%?

 

With the fact we are $16 Trillion in debt.

If the spineless Republicans in Congress don't mind the other unlawful things Der Furher has done already I don't suppose they would put up much of a fuss over raising federal workers pay by executive order either.

 

Nope they won't...they're all a bunch of status quo career politicians.

 

I don't begrudge a wage rise even the pitiful non rise of 0.5% what i do object to is that the Cooper tyres workers have their wages cut by 50% and the US Government Capitialist crap that it is allows its own citizens to have their wages cut 50%,yes Halved.Dose the Government of the USA defend the Workers NO it does not so why should workers defend it .

Ask not what the Nation can do for you ask what good is it when wages are Halved.

Maybe they should bring in a 2 teir wage system for Government employees?

No they need them to function ,though 0.5% dosen't even cover Inflation ,when is a wage rise not a wage rise ?

Currently around the 3,5% mark means a 3% drop for Public servants in real terms.

Note the deflation in 2009 thats when the Depression hit Negative growth of around 5% interesting .

Thats just a statement of fact; it doesn't say how you came to the conclusion of 10% as opposed to 14 or 15%.

 

Yeah you for president einstein ,at least Obama understands that to keep some basis of support within the ranks of Government workers has some use to a crisis ridden Government ,see the Workers do everything in Capitialist Society even run the Functions of the Capitialist State.

No workers no Government, a general strike of government workers whould just about topple the Government before term .a 0.5% wage increase is a cut in real cost of livimg terms it would have to be 3.5% just to cover Inflation or to tread water a real wage rise is anything over the Inflation rate currently 3.5% and going UP and we all know what the reserve Bank must do if Inflation keeps going up,oh thats right INCREASE Intrest rates.

What will say a full percent rate increase do ,ph thats right put the remaining buissness activity to the wall and increase Unemplotment .

I already gave my opinion on the matter in the OP, but for those of you who didn't read it or don't understand, here we go again...

Obama just cut the military over 10 years, getting rid of hundreds of thousands of troops.

The economy is still crappy, the true unemployment rate is at 15%, people are hurting, no one has money, gas is at all time highs, and Obama wants to just pay more to federal workers.

He said we all need to sacrifice, I guess that means all of us, who don't work for the government, those of us who pay the salaries for the government workers.

We should be slashing spending by large amounts.

DOE, DOA, DOL, dept of energy, and a host of other agencies that we don't need.

We are $16 Trillion in debt, the debt commission can't come to a deal, and we have no way to pay this down without huge drastic cuts.

Obama doesn't know his ass from his elbow, nor does he know how to not spend money or how to stop our nation from the track it is on of debt that we can't afford, and it is making us weaker by the second. But hey, lets give more money to people who already make more than their private sector counter parts.

Ok, that explains some of it, but I'm still waiting to hear how you came to your figure of 10%. Why 10% and not, say 15% ??? How did you arrive at that conclusion?

 

Because its a number that is not too drastic where its going to hurt people in a huge way, yet cuts alot of which the government can save.

 

Well, as a taxpayer (and i pay a small fortune in taxes) I'm in favor of a payraise for the workers. I am private sector and I get a payraise every year; why shouldn't they?
