Because their "company" is bankrupt and does not have to money for a pay raise.

A 1/2% pay increase? And that's what you're complaining about?

    And in 2013?

That is about 5% DECREASE if you compare it to the purchasing power due to inflation!

Do you have ANY idea of how much the private industry CEO's have rceceived in "increase" while evryone else has seen their real income decrease?

    Get a life!

You get a life. I don't care about the CEOS blah blah blah. The private industry are the ones who pay the salaries of the gov workers.

    .5% x how many workers salaries....wake up

If you are offering a 15% pay cut for federal employees I'll take that.

Otherwise give them the raise but fire 5-15% and freeze the workforce until the federal budget is balanced.

    funny you should mention that!

Six month ago was MAY/June 2011. The 1/2% "increase" is for 2013, prlobably to take effect in April or May 2013!

get your calculator out. . .it might help you figure out that that is roughly TWO YEARS!

Good, then you can give them a raise and pay even more in taxes, that you are not opposed to.

Plus the fact they already make more than their private sector counterparts.

How did you come to the conclusion that they are over paid?? What litmus test did you use to arrive at your answer? I realize you said that government is broke; but give more specifiecs to justify your conclusion.

Again, you come out with all these numbers but give no specifics on how you arrived at them.

I have no problem in paying more in taxes when it comes to supporting government infrastructure. You get what you pay for in life.

Can you give some examples of what your claiming so we can debate the issue further?

Ayuh,... I've done My homework, 'n ain't doin' yer's for ya....

Maybe you haven't noticed the Jump in government workers, 'n their pay rates in the last few years...

While I personally think the size of the government should be reduced to that of the 70s,...
At this point, I'd settle for the size of 2006...

We have to begin the bidding someplace.

Mine was a 5% pay cut and a freeze on hiring new federal employees till the budget is balanced.

    What is your offer?

Good luck getting the federal employees to fight and die defending America.

If Obama guts the military America will be defenseless.

My offer is this: No pay cut; instead freeze all salaries (including Executive Branch, Both Houses of Congress); increases based on COLA until balanced budget is achieved.

Future hirings based on proven needs of agency or department regardless of a balanced budget or not.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, which President Obama signed into law on Dec. 31, 2011, includes a 1.6 percent pay bump for service members, effective Jan. 1. Obama recommended that figure in his fiscal 2012 budget proposal. Civilian federal employees still are subject to a two-year pay freeze that began in January 2011.

    Who decides on proven needs?

Roll back employment to the level it was when Obama took office.

Like any other country, to save their skins, they'll enlist and fight. The instinct for survival is a basic one in human race.
