This statement came from the Ron Paul campaign tonight after placing a very respectable 2nd to Romney, beating the polling projections. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MANCHESTER, New HampshireRep. Ron Paul's campaign called on the rest of the Republican field to drop out of the race and unite behind him in order to defeat Mitt Romney. We urge Ron Pauls opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Pauls candidacy, campaign chair Jesse Benton said in a statement. Read the full statement below: LAKE JACKSON, Texas Ron Paul tonight scored an historic second-place victory in the 2012 New Hampshire Primary. Below please find comments from National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton: Ron Paul tonight had an incredibly strong second-place finish in New Hampshire and has stunned the national media and political establishment. When added to Pauls top-tier showing in Iowa, its clear he is the sole Republican candidate who can take on and defeat both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. The race is becoming more clearly a two-man race between establishment candidate Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, the candidate of authentic change. That means there is only one true conservative choice. "Ron Paul has won more votes in Iowa and New Hampshire than any candidate but Mitt Romney. "Ron Paul and Mitt Romney have been shown in national polls to be the only two candidates who can defeat Barack Obama. "And Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are the only two candidates who can run a full, national campaign, competing in state after state over the coming weeks and months. Ron Paul's fundraising numbers -- over $13 million this quarter -- also prove he will be able to compete with Mitt Romney. No other candidate can do all of these things. "Ron Paul is clearly the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney as the campaign goes forward. We urge Ron Pauls opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Pauls candidacy. Ron Paul has the boldest plan to cut spending, a dedication to protecting life, and a lifelong dedication to the Constitution and limited government. He also has the necessary support to campaign nationwide against Mitt Romney. Our campaign is already planning ahead for South Carolina, Florida, and beyond. Soon Ron Paul will head to South Carolina to begin a feverish round of campaigning. Ron Paul is in this race for the long haul. And he is ready to fight. See you on the campaign trail. http://www.buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/ron-paul-to-everyone-but-mitt-drop-out
Tonight was the greatest night in the history of the Ron Paul Revolution! His speech was the most inspiring I have heard perhaps ever in American politics and it was done WITHOUT a teleprompter! I feel sorry for these Romney supporters. They're missing out on the great liberty movement of our time in exchange for the empty slogans of an empty suit. RON PAUL 2012!
I doubt they will but its a true statement by the RP camp. I hope they do. Mitt has the same folks funding him that funds Obama I dont understand how people could vote for a establishment hack like that.
Huntsman knocked out Santorum tonight. His supporters now have to find a new candidate. Gee...I wonder who it might be???
It'll be interesting to see how the race shapes up in SC and Florida. If Paul wishes to position himself as the Romney alternative, he needs to do better than he's polling down there.
I heard he is skipping FL. But he has great support afterwords. IF the bottom tier come to their senses, they will drop out and back Ron for the simple fact that he IS the only conservative with the history to face Obama with priciples hanging out. Notice how no one has actually been able to attack Ron using his own words against him?
Florida is a winner take all delegate system. Florida is not the state for a grass roots candidate, it's far too expensive, running candidates about 2 million per week to run a full television ad campaign. Only a Goldman Sachs schill can compete in Florida. It isn't worth the investment to take second and get nothing out of it. South Carolina we'll probably aim to win certain districts but lose the state. After Florida the tide will turn for us. Texas is worth more delegates than all of these states combined and Ron Paul has Texas on lock, like California and delegate rich Idaho. After Florida the tide turns.
From THE ROMNEY GUY HERE.. What an absurd thread and topic and discussion by this group. 1s. A 3rd place Finish below expectations in IOWA ..a state where Paul was telling everyone he EXPECTED to finish in the top 2 since he spent an entire summer working the state hard failed to reap votes. The Paulites here have posted thread after thread how he was LEADING in every poll in IOWA and I even BET a certain moderator on the out come. Yes he is owned by Romney. 2nd. A DISTANT and I MEAN DISTANT 2nd place reminds me of the movie with RICKY BOBBY.."If you aint 1st place ... you lose. " ( he was the 1st place loser ) And 2nd place by this margin is not beating expectations..LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF INDEPENDENTS PAUL WON...barely edging Romney out...THE AGE GROUP PAUL WON ? 17-29 and MEN ONLY. The 1st 2 states were PAUL'S MAIN independent ground...and he didn't WIN. Paul got slaughtered when the age and voter experience went up. Women AND MEN supported Romney. REPUBLICANS Voted 59 % to support Romney..Conservatives..moderates and very conservatives supported Romney..ONLY THE YOUTH ANTI - WAR VOTE WENT TO PAUL. 3rd. exit poll after exit poll listed ROMNEY THE WINNER on elect ability and ability to beat Obama. If anything the rest of the field should throw their support around ROMNEY and help defeat OBAMA.. This crapola about beating MITT ROMNEY is the WRONG MESSAGE. Romney is not the enemy..BAD GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP IS. 4th. It is up to PAUL to go south and show support as well as ROMNEY. Why should everyone just give up and support Paul ? OK you can have PERRY ..Bachman and Cains supporters..That only puts you 5 pts behind Romney. I dont think Santorum or Newt will ever Back PAUL in this universe's Lifetime. If Huntsman would quit and support Paul he could never go back to UTAH. Remember the Huntsman message..Putting the nation 1st ? PAUL puts his ideology 1st...not the nations security and defense. So we can safely say Santorum ..Newt and Huntsman would never ask their supporters to back Paul and thinking back MB said Paul was dangerous in a BAD way..so that leaves you PERRY and CAIN . If you check reality they are much more in line with Romney's philosophies and less with Paul's. 5. In order to win the super majority Romney should offer what I said all along ..the position of Secretary of TREASURY to Paul as a way to get his voters to support him and allow Paul a seat at the table. If Paul is happy with being a DISTANT 2ND or 3rd in primaries I bet he would love # 5 position at the White House...and control of what he really wants..THE NATIONS MONEY SUPPLY. 6. Please dont let Paul slip into the HUNTSMAN spin of " hey 3rd place ain't bad..we gotta ticket to ride" sheep POO. Paul's message is too important to let go of... A Place along side Romney would assure that message is heard loud and clear.
Sorry Billyboy... you're not from NH and don't understand NH is an Open Primary State where plenty of Obama supporters voted for Huntsman/Romney. Take that into consideration before you start your Romney circle jerk in a Ron Paul thread about the other Nominees dropping out.
Nope..I am a political Republican junkie and a township delegate. I support The Republican nominee that best meets most of my ideas 1st and the party's 2nd. I dont need to be from N.H to have an insider opinion on what happened there. We have e -mails almost every day from the party and Romney campaign. We know the exit polling dynamics..FACTS. We dont rely on your polling data which I have shown all along to be cooked by internet voters. I showed a responsible and mature response and even offered a olive branch out to the Paulites.Since I am not in The Romney camp in any OFFICIAL position or nature it is just my opinion on how to unify the attack on OBAMA.. I have said all along Romney , even if you dont love him/like him..is best suited to unify a divided nation. The only exit group Paul won leaving N.H was the male 17-29 anti - war ISSUE first group. This stuff is not FOX ..but using CNN data. I want a unified country backing the American ideology..not the Republican or Romney plan...and certainly not a progressive socialist plan. Class and envy war fare have no place in The real America..no tax any group for another's benefit.. isn't in any Constitution I ever studied. A Romney led nation with Paul as the guy in charge of the money supply would go a LONG way toward that goal...considering who and what we have in charge now. and THAT is a PAUL idea I embrace fully.
The sooner we get rid of the big government nut jobs like Newt the quicker we can end the take over of the republican part by liberals like Mitt Romney.
Since you act as if you know how Paul would Govern, then answer this. How would a President Paul respond to the BP oil spill.? We know Obama was a total disaster.Made the entire thing monumentally worse, instead or responding and taking heed he spent an entire week ignoring it and then the nest 3 weeks trying to spin whose fault it was.
What do you believe would have happened under a Ron Paul administration? He is an extreme advocate of Property Rights... so take a moment and reflect on that.
No..the sooner Paul will need to go one and one with Romney. and that vote wont be on favor of Paul.. He cant just pick friendly caucus states...and hope for a Romney screw up.. Paul has already galvanized many supporters against him as for him..more in fact are against him. I want that debate and I dont fear it. Romney's life experiences V. Paul's Doing v. Book writing. The most basic realization of all college graduates..you can Book study a subject for years..it doesn't equal real world hands on experiences.. successes and failures. Paul is like Newt..the college professor..about to discover that fact.
Maybe you failed to understand the question... You and many others such as yourself are setting up the Republican Nominee to be Romney because he is similar to Obama in views. So in the end you and many others want a Win/Win situation when November strolls along.
LOL thanks for the laughs.. But ill take my chances with Ron Paul as president. If i wanted a liberal I would just go vote for Obama.
Nope..A win is Romney being elected. a win /win is Paul in charge of the moneys supply. I wonder what would happen with the fed ?
New Hampshire means little. The state is practically ALL Progressive or Moderate.Don't forget Tsongas won there. For those who remember who Paul Tsongas was.
If I wanted a history professor I could vote for Newt. If I wanted a book writer on economics I could vote for Paul If I wanted a real leader I would vote for Romney. Enjoy that laugh..he who laughs last...
So, you are for big government, individual mandates, glabal warming cap and trade taxes, gun control, government funded abortions, and endless wars? What parts of the GOP do you agree with again?
Or Obama for you considering he is no different Romney... though you paint him to be different when just isn't the case at all. Just by your further words it proves you're a Status Quo person and simply looking for Bush IV...
Eliminating the Fed could turn out to be a huge disaster. But Paul could never do it as President. He'd automatically make enemies of half of Wall Street and ALL Bankers. The Fed serves a purpose. It acts as leverage to offer some guarantee against Inflation.
