You said running, by your figure, approx. 5.5 miles over the course of a game while having to prevent the opposition from getting to your goal, controlling the ball while you have possession, among other things, requires little physical prowess?

    Riiiiight...

Injuries are the only thing that makes a sport physically and mentally tough?

    I don't get that mindset...

They are both tough sports. I prefer to watch rugby, but to say football (soccer, yankee woofter name for football) doesn't incur injuries, shows no knowledge of the sport.
My favourite football player of all time. Look at the angle of his leg. He did recover from this broken leg and return to the game stronger than ever. The wonderful Henrik Larssen, aka Magnificent 7

Actually I'm only on here because my husband is watching stupid football. I'm sure it's English football, which he's not allowed to watch at risk of severe staring and blinking, because it's bad enough having to suffer Scottish football without having to suffer English. But he's sneaked this through by muttering something about it being a European game and the manager is Scottish.

I ran and completed the Nationwide Insurance marathon in Columbus in October. Prancing around a soccer field for 5 miles over 90 minutes won't change my mind.

You need 11 fit people to assemble a team. I always heard football isn't popular in US because you don't have the stamina to play a game for 90 minutes without taking break.

    So, you're a runner...

So am I, and I could run up & down the field for 90 minutes in a soccer game...

That doesn't make it any less physically demanding...

And soccer players no more "prance" around than basketball or football players...

Correct. 5.5 miles in 90 minutes averages out to a slow power walk, less than 4 mph. Except in soccer it's done in bursts, with dozens of breaks. And those are not my figures, google it for yourself.

And as if controlling a ball makes it any more physically demanding! LOL!

    Got it...

So, no sport is physically demanding in your opinion, since there are breaks, and most players don't do a lot of running...

And also, anyone can run at the same speed with or without controlling a ball...

    Question...

How fast did you run your marathon?

Negative, soccer is a prancing sport.

So, you pull up a video directly intended to make someone look like a fruit, to prove your point?

    Terrible debate tactic...

Did I say it was edited?

    No...

The video, however, is intended to make soccer look gay by way of this referee...

    Terrible debate tactic...

Well, I ran it with my wife, so my time is actually her time. You can look up names if I give you the exact time so I'll just say it was around 3 and a half hours.

    In all seriousness, that's impressive...

About 8 mph if I have it right...

I, myself, don't run quite that fast...

Then again, I enjoy running so much that I tend to draw it out in a jogging pace...

That aside, soccer is a physically demanding sport...

What's to debate? Soccer and it's participants do that on their own.

In all seriousness half of what I say is just messing around. But I'm no fan of soccer.

    *shrug*

    Agree to disagree, I guess...

You aren't really open to other's opinions, so, this is a road to nowhere...

rugby is like the ufc on the field its better with the bare knuckle boxing but they should just set time out and let them do chokes and other things

soccer is too authoritarian for a sport, the rules are over reaching and the players are forced to act like idiots for the refs

Ah Rugby, my first experience of it was in School at about age 11 in the middle of January and hurling this other poor kid to the ground both falling in a huge puddle that had frozen over, then being screamed at by my terrifying Welsh PE teacher

Whatever that has to do with rugby and football. You must be hard up for a decent point. Still, you can always run away very fast.

We like normal teeth, btw, not neon lights. And why do you "extend jaw"s? It looks totally false and quite strange, big giant gubs like a guppy. (no offence to anybody but you, btw)

they have universal health care in UK , they can afford to knock each others teeth out in rugby and get fakes

here americans will walk around with gaps if rugby was a national sport

I would say just the opposite, so few fouls are called that players take to diving in order to get a call their way...only a small fraction of the fouls that are committed each game are called...
