How did the media put it? Funemployment? That was it wasn't it? There next four years are going to be loads of fun. At least, they will likely be eligible for their Obamaphones, once they lose their houses.
I know someone who just got laid off from NBC. I warned her it was probably coming a while ago...NBC is going off the cliff, as they should be.
maybe they should try a little free market attitude and lower the admission to Universal theme parks by 1/2 and watch the people flock in. People would then consume lots of overpriced and profitable soda and fries while in the park
What!!!!!!!!-----------------------The big suck up to Obama causing unemployment to go up!!!!!! Incredible!!!!!! More proof tha that Obama and obamacare is bad for the country.
Even Obama's NBC, his own personal news network is dropping jobs. I wonder if there will be outrage over why the high paid show hosts won't be let go but the little guy is?
The high tech companies in Silicon Valley are hiring, but most Americans aren't qualified for these positions. As a result the high tech companies are bringing in workers from India and China.
NBC is in a world of hurt now that they were jettisoned by GE. Audiences are way down according to A.C.Nielsen. No ratings - no advertisers. Have you ever noticed how many ads are being run for (all the networks') own shows, rather than some other companies' stuff? Even during the last Super Bowl with its astronimical ratings there were ads for the networks own shows instead of revenue-producing commercials. NBC may be on the block before long.
"Fundamental transformation" is unwanted and unwarranted during times of prosperity.... and to complete their "fundamental transformation" towards social democracy and command economy collectivism... progressive leftists must continue pretending, lying, and denying Obama's open, "you didn't build that" and "tax the rich" hostility towards the business community has no effect on economic growth.
Here’s the reason. People are abandoning TV. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollyw...dip?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Way back in my antediluvian youth, I watched doctor dramas, cop shows, lawyer shows. All these years later, they still dominate. Can’t writers think of anything new? Also audiences are revolted by the near-porn that commercial TV prime-time has become.
This is Obama's fault? Back in 2008, I was interning at Viacom (more specifically, MTV News) and right before the election, they laid off about 8% of the workforce because of the stock market crash. Of course, that's Obama's fault too
Leftists are threatening boycotts against evil Applebees and Papa John's Pizza..... anyone seen the scumbags whining about NBC's preparation for Obamacare?
If that's the case, why are you guys focusing solely on layoffs rather than look at net job gains/losses? You could list 300,000+ job cuts every month in a *strong* economy. That's normal churn. The reason it's okay is because in that month the economy might *create* 500,000+ jobs. I mean, only partisan hacks would list only one side of an equation and call it good math. You guys aren't partisan hacks. Are you?
Job losses are slowly trending down. I have said that. Its good if it keeps doing it. Whats not good is 75% of the jobs being created in red states and those jobs that are created are 75% part time. The elderly are working later in life, 60% of all jobs go to immigrants, and recent college grads can't find jobs. Those situations aren't improving.
Good. Then threads like this serve no purpose. 75% are part-time jobs? Where are you getting that number? Yep, especially those who had to take money out during the stock market crash in early 2009. Again, where are you getting numbers like this? This is likely true. They may be improving slowly, but they're improving. A legitimate concern is that the recession took out a lot of mid-wage jobs, and so far low-wage jobs dominate the recovery: http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2012/09/12/recession-recovery-most-new-jobs-are-bad-jobs/ But that's a different argument, and it's rather hard to fix blame for that.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/31/two-thirds-of-jobs-go-to-immigrants/ From BLS Full Time Employed Jan 2009 115830 Oct 2012 115459 Part Time Employed Jan 2009 26340 Oct 2012 27875 Basically, it depends on your date range. But as you can see. All job growth from 2009 to today has been part time. I have had more links, just not remembering where they are now.
