I am starting to like this guy.

Not as I think he is a good person, but he is entertaining.

Once again, something ridiculous has come out of the mouth of Rafael Cruz. Apparently atheism, the absence of a belief in gods, leads to sexual perversion and sexual abuse.

Now, I am fairly sure that there are folks whom society would call sexual deviants in pretty much every spectrum of religious beliefs. One has to look no farther than the Catholic church to see it. A quick search of Google news can lead to numerous reports of theists behaving in a sexual fashion deemed both immoral and illegal by society.

At what point does this guy, the elder Cruz, become a political liability for his son's presumed presidential run? I am of the mind that the younger Cruz would wish his father would simply zip it for a while.

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/11/13/rafael-cruz-atheism-leads-to-child-molestation-and-perversity/

In an appearance before a gathering of OK2A, an Oklahoma Second Amendment advocacy group, Rafael Cruz, father of freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that atheism leads to sexual abuse of children.

In his talk, which took place earlier this month, the elder Cruz railed against atheism and secular humanism, which he said are two of the main ills facing our society.

“Let’s look, for example, at the behavioral consequences of these two foundations,” Cruz said to the group. “Well, if there is nothing, if there is no God, then we are ruled by our instincts.”

“There is no moral absolute, which means we operate by situational ethics,” he said, “which unfortunately is something being taught in every high school in America.”

Situational ethics, explained Cruz, maintain “that right and wrong depends on the situation. In other words, it’s a moral relativism.”

Because atheists believe in doing whatever they want, and if there are no moral absolutes, then there will be nothing but moral anarchy, he said.

“Do we know any politicians that have done that?” he asked.

“Hitler!” volunteered Larry Pratt of the organization Gun Owners of America, who was in the audience.

“Oh, we don’t have to go that far, Larry,” said Cruz. “Just go to Washington. Just go to the White House.”

“Of course, this leads us, when there are no moral absolutes,” he went on, “leads us to sexual immorality, leads us to sexual abuse, leads us to perversion and, of course, no hope. No hope!”

On a related note, the elder Cruz also called blacks and Hispanics uninformed, and made the blanket statement that all blacks should be Republican.

    http://www.opposingviews.com/i/poli...ls-hispanics-blacks-uninformed-slams-atheists

Rafael Cruz, evangelical pastor and father of Texas Senator Ted Cruz, had some harsh words in a February speech to conservative activists.

Cruz said that Hispanic voters are “uninformed” and “deceived.” He then added, “Well, the same thing is true of the black population.”

Cruz was referring to the tendency of minorities to vote Democrat, and was implying that the only reason they did so was out of ignorance.

Said Cruz, “As a matter of fact, if we could communicate the truth, not only to the Hispanics but to the black population, all blacks should be Republican."

Cruz touted “Highly religious, strongly pro-family, strongly pro-life” values, and also spoke about capital punishment in biblical terms, saying that the Bible advocates the death sentence.

If the only thing stopping ol' Pastor Cruz from diddling kids is his belief in God then I certainly hope he continues believing in God.

Rafael Cruz says that Hispanics should vote GOP because they are highly religions, pro-family and pro-life. Yet, exit polls from 2012 show that the majority of Latino voters support same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

Rafael is almost as uninformed as Ted.

I don't see the point of this. This is Cruz's father and has as much to do with Cruz as Billy Carter had to do with Jimmy. Let's leave the personality attacks to the far right.

I think what he said is brilliant! Yes, there is a lot of "situational ethics" taking place.

BTW, is Rafael Cruz running for something?

    I didn't think so.

Love this Papa Cruz deflection. There are like 5,000 topics about random people in Obama's life that the right has had zero problem using, implicating and exploiting to throw dirt but the father of the Tea Party Messiah and potential presidential candidate is irrelevant.

I'm sure OldYoungin here was also in the Frank Marshall or Huma Abedin threads wondering what the relevance was... oh wait, no he wasn't.

Lovely , the " they did it so we can to " excuse . My 5 year old uses that all the time. I guess in your world two wrongs make a right ?

Your answer highlights that this thread is looking for no discussion , just flame . Good job.

Shall we get into Barack Obama's father, and his EXPULSION form Harvard, over his financial problems ( apparently Obama's economic cluelessness was HEREDITARY!)< and his inability to decide how many wives he had?

Obama's father forced out at Harvard

BOSTON — President Barack Obama’s father was forced to leave Harvard University before completing his Ph.D. in economics because the school was concerned about his personal life and finances, according to newly public immigration records.

Harvard had asked the Immigration and Naturalization Service to delay a request by Barack Hussein Obama Sr. to extend his stay in the U.S., “until they decided what action they could take in order to get rid of him,” immigration official M.F. McKeon wrote in a June 1964 memo.

Harvard administrators, the memo stated, “were having difficulty with his financial arrangements and couldn’t seem to figure out how many wives he had."

Its not two wrongs make a right, because I am fine with you righties doing it. I just think it comical that you now turn around and pretend Cruz's insane father has no relevance to Cruz.

    - - - Updated - - -

We've already done that many times, note the multitude of threads about Obamas father. Any comment on Papa Cruz?

The church should have been more vigilant of the homosexuals in their midst, no doubt.

He's absolutely correct. Lack of a moral compass leads to societal decay.

Never saw a thread anywhere here about Barack Senior. Isn't the President liable for what his father did?

You know, like you're trying to pin Cruz's father to his chest?
