The reader really should take the time to scroll down the list of notable JEWISH ATHEISTS towards the end of the article. It's a mile long and should be enlightening even to the slowest of Goy learners. The Jews say we are ALL stupid you know, even the Shicksa hoes they like so well.

I don't know Brucy Baby. You tell me. Why DOES the Holy Spirit reject me? I don't have a pipe line to him the way you do so it would be much easier if you just ask him yourself.

    you're a strange thing, Holston.

nevertheless, I propose that the high percentage of ethnically jewish atheists is down to education. a boon that jewish folk generally hold in considerably higher regard than non-Jewish americans.

No. My purpose was to show that Christianity does NOT make for better people. And if there was any doubt left by the inability of the board's Christians to even TRY to make a case that it does that doubt was removed by your comments.

Here's some more of what Christians call Jews oppressing Christians. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

you seem to be flailing around in anger - or at least the mild, internet rant version of anger. either way, it's not helping the flow of your work.

bill maher may be half ethnically jewish, but he was raised as a catholic. a half white baby who grows up in a rice farmers hut in northern Thailand will eventually be ...... imagine that - a thai rice farmer!

Wow! I am DEEPLY honored to be considered among the likes of Albert Einstein, Carl Sagan, Stan Lee (if there was a god he would have had him write the Bible - it would have been much, MUCH, better), Isaac Asimov, and so many other great thinkers. What a GREAT list of people! (Although the Christians can have Ayn Rand.)

i happen to be a christian, and i actually think it made me a better person; today im no a religious person, not sure if i wud even call me a christian (on paper i am), but i learned about christianity in school and church (hated going there), and still today i subscribe to christain values like tolerance, forgiveness, sharing etc.
Problem is, that many people who call themselves christian might be religious and on paper christain, but in reality they are not, because they don't care for christian values - going to church doesn't make u a good christian, subscribing to christain values does.
unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the US who fit the latter description - and in a lot of cases i wud say that christianity/religion made them worse people..an very obvious example wud be the homophobes who relate their hate towards this orientation to the bible - clearly bad people

but this is not exclusive for christianity, its like that for most religions

No offense, but you're not someone I would go to for the truth. In Stalin's time, seminary education was open to poor people who could not afford private tutors or expensive schools, and did not necessarily mean that the student was preparing for a church career. You claim that Stalin wasn't really an atheist is beyond stupidity. Torquemada wasn't really a Christian, see how that works? The 100,000,000 victims of atheistic communism during its short sick history did their crimes precisely because of their beliefs. The Jewish convert to Christianity Richard Wurmbrand, who was sent to prison for his faith, reported:

"The cruelty of atheism is hard to believe when man has no faith in the reward of good or the punishment of evil. There is no reason to be human. There is no restraint from the depths of evil which is in man. The Communist torturers often said, 'There is no God, no hereafter, no punishment for evil. We can do what we wish.' I have heard one torturer even say, 'I thank God, in whom I don't believe, that I have lived to this hour when I can express all the evil in my heart.' He expressed it in unbelievable brutality and torture inflicted on prisoners."

To say the least, Pastor Wurmbrand had more real life experience with communism than you.

But that can't happen with the irreligious brought up ignorant of religious things?

No shortage of answers from me.

    No kidding Sherlock.

An unjustified and slanderous rant. While we are on supposed root causes, read "Faith of the Fatherless" about how many atheist are they way they are due to childhood trauma from poor father relationships.

I've mused that if "god" had authored the bible, you'd expect it to be a whole lot better written.

The christians all seem to think it is that well written! I guess they are obligated to think that, but they must not of studied much English lit.

You surely would have understood those values regardless?. Those are not "Christian" values anyway, as they are not originated by nor in any way exclusive to Christianity.

I was kind of surprised when I learned that the same values i was raised with are taught in the USA as coming from god, and presented in church!

    must not have studied

The word Christian is always capitalized. From the pronoun Christ.

Bible is always capitalized. It's a book.

God didn't author the Bible. Google it. Lol

Any more Bible criticisms, "English lit" professor?

If I choose to say "must of", as in that case, I had a reason for it. You failure to see why I said it that way does not reflect on whether or not I have adequate facility in the use of the language.

The word "christian' is not always capitalized if I do not choose to capitalize it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. Sometimes I dont capitalize anything in a sentence. I am aware of the rules for proper nouns.

"Bible" just means "book". There is the Bass Fisherman's Bible. When referring to it, shall i call it the Bible? Would you?

I of all people am aware that "god" did not "author" the bible. People made the whole thing up for themselves. I said "author' as a shorthand way of expressing the demented idea that
"god" somehow was behind it. "Inspired", I think is a better word. Let us all know when you always choose the ideal word.

The "holy" bible is very uneven in its literary quality. If you think its the best your "god" could do, you dont have much of a god.

Oh, and, one more thing. Do you ever at least consider the possibility of addressing the actual topic of a post, rather than making insulting personal remarks about me?

It reflects either an inability to address the topic, or that you are overwhelmed with
personal hatred and cannot force yourself to talk about anything else but that.

    Which is it?

    Its - possessive
    It's - it is

The comma or punctuation mark goes inside the quotation mark, by the way.

Bass Fisherman's Bible - I'm dying to fish! I believe I'll take the boy out this afternoon and try to get one. If you come across that book, I'm in up to $50.

I can't think of a reason not to capitalize Christian, but I know this is an Internet forum and not your Master's thesis. I'm only criticizing you now because of your criticisms of the Bible. Of course, the Bible is translated from the original Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic into virtually every language. I'm sure different cultures have different opinions as to literary style. Even so, pick one of the sixty six books of the Protestant Bible and apply literary criticism. If you weren't simply taking cheap shots at the Bible, you'd be more specific about which books and which authors you did or didn't like from a literary criticism standpoint.

A little better this time, only the majority of your post is dedicated to negative personal remarks.

One thing that fundies have a lot of trouble with as an intellectual proposition is that many things
    have more than two possibilities.

Are you absolutely sure that it has to be either than I am taking cheap shots, or I would
make a detailed presentation on the subject?

Try thinking just a little bit longer.
Include, if you will, a bit of thought about who is the cheap-shot artiste here.

Here's what I recommend. Whenever you think I'm making insulting personal remarks, report it. If the mods agree with you, they'll probably warn me. If they think you're just complaining because you're being held accountable for your own personally insulting remarks about God, Christianity, the Bible, etc. maybe they'll let you know that, too.

I just found this snuggled in your failed quote attempt. It wasn't a sentence, hence no capitalization nor punctuation mark. Consider it a chalkboard example of your English fail. Did you really say you know my native language better than me? There's just no EVIDENCE of that in our writing. When writing a paper or something, I'm sure you do ok. But here, you're at seventh grade level, in my observation. I write very well because I welcome any criticism of my writing style or technical critique.

    must not have studied

"Must not of known to capitalize the first word in a sentence?"

it would be nice if you would lighten up a bit. You know Im not going to report you. heavens, dont get all serious.

It would also be nice if you would actually post on topic, rather than making every post something
about me personally, whether it is an expression of negative feelings or not.

I made the observation that the bible does not read like a book inspired by god.

if you think it does, well, fine.

Id expect it to be so obviously inspired that it would be stone obvious, towering over any work of mere men. It just doesnt do that.

    Difference of opinion.

Ok, difference of opinion. The only problem I have is that you're painting with a very broad brush considering the number of books, authors, languages and the time span of the collection of texts that make up the Holy Bible. It sure sounds like cheap shots to me.

None of these posts from anyone are ever on-topic. Please.

note the sentence in bold, and laugh (at yourself)

I put in that "must not OF" on purpose, but I guess that was too subtle for ya.

And yes, I do know your language better than you do.
The "fails" on your part are because you dont know any better.

What you think are "fails" on my part are deliberate, or, because this not being
a formal composition class, i dont bother to, say, capitalize that i or put an apostrophe in the dont.

I know Americans tend not to like it when foreigners come along and beat them at their own game, but if so, they should try to improve, rather than complain. You cant do the Asian Exclusion Act anymore, after all.

Commies beating the Americans at the capitalism game...

Why should time span matter, to the Eternal Father? And why should different authors, languages etc matter? This seems to be a god of limited means.

The broad brush stroke is for the bible as a whole. Here and there is some really good prose,
but it just does not present to my eyes as a book that is the product of "god". Unless a second rate one who has no eye for literature and little for content.

If if feels like a cheap shot to you, that may be because you are so invested in it that you
think criticism is inappropriate, out of bounds. Like, "How dare you speak against GOD!!".

I've no idea what you mean by that last line.

Your posts in response to mine seldom are on topic, and I hope you will improve on that. to the binary among us, it might appear that it reflects either a lack of comprehension of the topic, or a disinclination to deal with it. :D

you are certainly right, i suppose i wud have acquired these values anyway along the way...but still, if christian classes teach anything, it shud be these things, and thats not a bad thing; i think the stories of jesus make it quite easy to relate to, especially for young children...of course one cud probably substitute the stories into some not related to religion and get the same message across
anyway, i think its good that religion can promote these positive values, and im really not a fan of religion, but thats one good aspect about em.
