I'm a conservative with some iconoclastic views. I'm a refugee from a forum which had deteriorated into personal insults and is now devoid of political debate. Looking for some good posters and threads here.
Welcome aboard. That said I would consider continuing to look to have other options if/when needed. This site does have some good debates on occasion but often it turns into nothing more than a spitting contest. I just returned from another site after taking a break from this site for exactly that reason. You will see for yourself, but keep in mind that most sites are pretty much the same, the differences are what the Moderators will allow and how fair they are, because they can actually change the tone of a site through their actions. Ever see a site where the mods stepped away and let people go at it full bore, I have the site died off within months, same can be said when they get to heavy handed, when people fear saying the wrong thing because they can get banned for nearly any infraction they simply stop posting, it is a fine line and for the most part they do well here when it comes to being fair. Good luck and look forward to discussing the topics and issues of the day. Find yourself a good Avatar, there are many free ones available on the web, it helps people remember you and nice since many sites do not even allow them. Casper
I'm a refugee of a forum gone bad too, however because of the shear size of this one, it's easier to bail on a discussion that deteriorates into nonsense and find another thread.
Welcome! There are loads of posts here daily and the moderators do a very good job at keeping things civil and on topic. I am confident that you won't feel the need to bail out of this forum due to any inappropriate behavior by the members here. Enjoy your stay!
