If you live in a place where the population are not armed, the need to be armed isn't seen as a good or positive thing.

The idea that i need to arm myself for protection is just alien to me - Do you primarily own your guns because you like them or because they help you to feel safe?

There are innumerable legal purposes for a gun.
I own them for these purposes.

How is having 6 firearms in my car - 2 of them loaded - on a trip to the range a "symbol" that I live in a VERY dangerous place?

I've got no money for ammo and a few free days coming up so I think I'll set up the loading press to prep for a range day.

I recently discovered a golf ball launcher attachment for ARs and AKs powered by blanks. Plenty of YouTube vids out there comparing the two but I'd like to see the two compare on the golf course. Bonus points for trying to blast the ball in the cup at 10ft with the AR while swinging the AK like a putter. Throw in a golf clap sound effect when the ball goes in the cup then narrate in a golf announcers voice.

Hunting ? a Shotgun and or a Rifle in your car, a pistol or two, 6 various Guns and ammo, I am at a loss as to how that could be considered Dangerous, I do not, I live in a Rural area, farms, it is not uncommon to encounter Rabid Animals, or need to put down livestock, Guns are tools.

Where we come from, it is just a gun collector on his way to do business, or someone on the way to a competition, or someone on the way to do some target shooting with various firearms, or someone going to sell them, or he just bought them.... etc

As long as it is a legal owner and he has no intention of breaking the law, then it is the very definition of freedom.

For people who live and work on farms they are tools and people who live and work on farms still own and use guns but, as you said, in that situation they are tools.

The difference for us is guns within the general population - Because we've never had them as a hobby or interest, we view the need for gun ownership for protection as being the sign of living in a dangerous place.

I'm not one of those anti gun people or someone who thinks that you should give up your guns.

If i lived in America then I'd arm myself but as i don't...i don't! :0)

    - - - Updated - - -

" then it is the very definition of freedom" - Within America yes, but less so in many places outside of America.

Like i said, buying a beer at 18 is a freedom that we hold dear.

Yea, since you are debating with Americans then you are going to get American perspectives and values. We pride ourselves for leaving an oppressed government, finding a new land, and doing things our way. We really don't have any desire to be like other countries.

That's why i'm here mate! We know that you do not want to be like other countries - In the same way, other countries do not want to be like America.
From my experience, every country is different.

Guns are probably the best topic to display this desire to be different as guns are seemingly very important in your culture and so insignificant in ours.

I don't get the leaving an oppressed government bit though - Early colonies had peoples from all over the place, not just the UK and each group were there for very different reasons. A lot of people from the UK for example came for the economic opportunities because, at the time, land ownership wasn't within the reach of the average man. The story we were always told at school as people left for religious freedom yet this doesn't really stand up when you dig a little deepr.

Anyway, its the differences in us that makes the world fun!

Between beer and guns, the guns are far safer.

It is interesting to see how people enjoy re-writing history much as in George Orwell's story 1984.

Well, I didn't get out to the range but I did aquire a new "tool". Anyone recognize it? I'll be a little disappointed if an Aussie or Brit doesn't get it first, after all they did nickname it "The right hand of the free world".

PS- If anyone can tell if this is a metric or inch receiver I would love to know.

Hopefully the cops won't profile you and assume you are a terrorist who is hell bent on killing cops or creating a nuisance.

An Aussie can go to a gun range with weapons. Difference here is that we have to act responsibly around machinery that has the potential to hurt yourself or others. Also that we have enough sense of civic duty to respect that responsibility

"Freedom" does not give anyone the "right" to do whatever they want whenever they want

Actually the difference is an Aussie can go to the range with very specific and controlled weapons. Your government doesn't trust you to act responsibly.

How is a loaded gun holstered on my hip any more dangerous to transport than in a lockbox? It's not. In both instances the trigger is protected from something pulling on it. Since modern guns are drop safe you actually have to pull the trigger to make them go bang.

"Your government doesn't trust you to act responsibly" - If every american was armed, just think how many more of each other you could shoot in a year!

That was a silly statement, there are many Armed Criminals, those People are a clear and present danger to society, not the People with concealed carry permits.

Good for you. Just be glad your name is not Philando Castile - I bet you don't have his skin tone.
