3rd Infantry Regiment is stationed at Arlington, there's Marines at the Barracks at 8th and I, and the Asymmetric Warfare Group is at Fort Meade.
Military parades for millennia have served as morale boosters and de-polarization methods. Have you seen a country ever in need of both of those things as badly as the US is now? Simple minded people don't understand the psychological effect this creates, which is exactly why you called it "useless" and a "waste".
Lol, it did. I ended up living out of a car at 18 with one parent in the ground and the other not giving a (*)(*)(*)(*) about anyone. Did I sit around and beg? No, I got (*)(*)(*)(*) done. Went to college and worked full time, now I have a house, rentals, and a lot of disposable income. Sitting on your ass working a dead end job isn't going to get people out of poverty. They have to help themselves.
I too would like the govt to spend taxpayer money on Vets and the least fortunate than giving 500 million dollars to failed solar companies like solyndra. I believe the Military has been part of parades in the US for as long as we've been a Republic.
I've always found this sort of thing impressive, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fh8lMTulkg&t=34s
Sounds cool to me. You realize in America this means the Blue Angels and the Marine Silent Drill Team and such, right? It means a Toby Keith concert is coming near you! lol I love that leftists are freaking out imagining nukes rolling down the street and a half million troops marching by 1600 Penn giving Trump the Nazi salute! That's funny!
How about we use the money to pay for maintenance of our aircraft, instead of going to the bone yard for parts and maybe, just maybe we wouldn't have all these aircraft 'accidents' that the military has experienced lately.
We had a couple military helicopter fly over our football field two years ago to kick off the first game on the new artificial turf. It's not a big deal.
sar-casm [sahr-kaz-uh m] noun 1. harsh or bitter derision or irony. 2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.
Denegrating someone's personal accomplishments without knowing that person or what they've done is the hallmark of one whose life has been, at best marginally successful but socially without value. Revel in your ignorance my friend. It would appear that the inmates are going to be running the asylum. Regards, Bourne
You clearly don't understand the definition of ignorance or hypocrisy, as you attempt to denigrate my personal accomplishments without knowing me or what I've done. Pathetic.
Whatever. I'm done wasting my time trying to have a civil discussion with someone whose rude and ignorant opinions are the the very definition of that which is pathetically stupid. Regards, Jason Bourne
A civil discussion when you have attempted to belittle me over and over? It seems you think you can say anything you want, but fall apart when someone gives you a taste of your own medicine. Once again, you demonstrate that you don't understand the concept of hypocrisy. But you keep telling yourself how tolerant you are.
Nope. We're done. I won't waste my time catering to your ignorant opinions and rude rhetoric. Regards, Jason Bourne
So you keep saying, over and over. So you keep saying, over and over. Having a different opinion than you doesn't make me ignorant. You really love using the term ignorant, but you have yet to actually use it correctly. In other words, you are either ignorant of it's definition or lack the capacity to use it appropriately. But please continue embarrassing yourself but telling everyone how tolerant you are.
Military parades are extremely expensive displays of a nation’s military power that glorify aggression and a nation’s capacity for destruction. Putin’s 2015 WWII Victory Day military parade cost the state $3.4 million dollars; far from wanting to rein in spending, Trump appears to be working overtime to try to come up with new ways to throw taxpayer money at the military-industrial complex. President Theodore Roosevelt once said our nation needed to “speak softly and carry a big stick.” The United States should not need to wave its stick in the face of the world; it is unbecoming of a nation that ostensibly tries to use diplomacy and negotiations to solve conflicts rather than violence. A military parade is at its heart a sign of weakness, an overcompensation on the part of an insecure leader unable to command respect from other nations by discourse or economic power – which the United States certainly can. Trump is incapable of speaking softly, of course, and there has never been a more obviously insecure president-elect, especially when it comes to size. We are about to see our president force our nation to wear his own insecurities on our sleeves. Regards, Jason Bourne
Just saying trump and Saddam have very similar styles of behavior. Thuggish might be a good description.
This is scary. It's so reminiscent of Nazism. I am now starting to think that he will lead this country into a terrible war - maybe China? And use propaganda lies to justify it.
He'll make Russia pay for it.....they are his inspiration ( and controllers) doncha know..... Get ready for more Russia/China/N. Korea type displays by America of "Let's got to war with anyone we can" by Trump
Its a show of force. IF you can show a hostile enemy, who ever that may be, that you don't want to screw with us or it will hurt a lot of for you. If you can do that, you have saved both money and lives on both sides. Which when you realize how much a military campaign costs, you're saving money in the long run.
