Broward County, FL (where the Parkland Shooter bought his gun) had a 5 business day waiting period (business days not including weekends), which means a week long waiting period. He bought the gun about a year before the shooting. The waiting period is plain and simple harassment of people who want to legally own a gun. The good thing is that the FL waiting period does not apply to those with CCW permits.

two handguns. The point is that the worst school shooting in the U.S. was done by two handguns, neither of which had 30 round magazines. He killed almost twice what the Parkland shooter did (32 for VT, vs. 17 for Parkland).

Wow, to give that much power to a single man without any kind of second opinion, etc. Also, if you do the above, a lot of people with those symptoms will not go to the psychiatrist.......

The way to address mass school shooting is 1.) armed police in schools full time and 2.) restricting easy entry. Otherwise, the problem has been the police, FBI, and other law enforcement grotesquely not doing their job - though there are exceptions such as the Vegas shooter. Fortunately, he selected the AR15 as his means to mass murder, which minimized the number killed.

Some years ago a fella I know - lawyer/judge - was bragging about machine gunning down prairie dogs. Seemed rather sicko to me, but is legal. You aren't SERIOUSLY claiming it takes a 30 round magazine to kill a lot of prairie dogs are you? I guess you claim all the people who say a person can fire virtually as fast reloading 10 rd magazines as using 30 round magazines claiming that proves nothing gained by outlawing 30 rd magazines are all wrong - and rather your view is that outlawing 30 round magazines will dramatically reduce killing power.

Really bad shot and all fumbly with magazines, are you? Why not then go belt feed? I had a twin .22 Ruger setup as Gatlin guns. Fun to play with, but worthless. Some guy in Alaska bought it from me.

What do you care how many he has? Being in the "FBI" you should know it is not a crime. You do know they do wear out right? He he wants 100 good enough for me. I think la have something like 20 30 rounders. When I am a a gun show and they are cheap might as well buy a few. Just like 30rd mags fo a 10/22. If someone got a good deal on buying a bunch I will gladly take a few off their hands for a reasonable price.

i feel very sorry for anyone who would not get help for their severe mental illness, due to a fear of losing their gun rights temporarily.

takes a very ****ing sick mind to love their guns more than their own survival.

if you are willing to disregard treatment for serious mental illness so that you can keep your guns, my point is proven.

Florida better do a lot more than gun control. The schools have to be made safer, and teachers have to report any student who is trouble in their eyes.

Yet it happens. Your plans to demonize the mentally ill further just makes that kind of person want to stay away from psychiatric treatment even more.

Plenty of people reported the Parkland shooter. That's the problem, the people they reported to--the Broward county sheriff's dept and DCF (and the FBI) did next to nothing. This was a systemic failure.

anyone who is mentally ill and says to themselves "I'd get treatment for my severe mental illness but Im afraid I may lose my gun rights", is pretty much suicidal.

nothing is more important than medical treatment.

why do americans victimize/demonize the 18-21 year olds.

You are old enough to hold a gun and fight and die for your country.

Yet you are to young to have a drink or have a firearm to defend yourself from everyone else and their firepower.

Most of the mentally ill are more harmless than me or you. There is no need to use additional laws to demonize them. We need to use existing law, which does ban those who have been adjudicated as mentally ill and a danger to self/others from buying guns. I'm against your whole idea of taking the "adjudicated" part out, and making it up to a single psychiatrist to make that decision.
