That is false. But even if it were true, what is your point? In certain situations, shotguns are far more lethal than rifles.

 

You misunderstand us. We want to make it better. Most of us also own guns.
The goal is to reduce the body count.
So let me know when somebody kills 50 and wounds 500 with a shotgun.

Think about WW2 in light of your comment. Germany invaded almost all of Europe and tried to take over the world. Australia is an island. Why wasn't the US invaded in WW1 or WW2? (We are armed to the teeth all over the US.) The US was encouraging citizens to donate rifles to England for the war effort. What will they do next time? I'm sure not sending my guns.

Not everyone can have the luxury of living on an island.

If Europeans had been armed during WW2, would Germany have steamrolled them so quickly? Would they have even tried? That's a lot more deaths than in American murders.

Gun control hasn't worked out so well in Venezuela. They are hunting down rats and zoo animals to keep from starving because their government owns them. Mexico would be in the same boat if they weren't leaching off of America.

The Vegas long range shooting was an anomaly and the vast majority of these mass shootings are in closed spaces with close quarters shooting. In this most common scenario the shotgun is just as or even more lethal than the carbine so why are you not demanding shotguns be made illegal too?

 

So you want all guns in America banned not just carbines. Thank you for your honesty.

 

What is your reasoning here? At close quarters a shotgun is far more likely to inflict wounds outside the protected area of a Kevlar vest, especially a head wound.

 

Actually vast majority of mass shootings are not done with AR-15s.

 

The way I understand it there was a 25 minute standoff with police. I don't think that would have happened if he had a high powered weapon.

There's quadrillions of shotguns in the hands of the people, even from way back when Sears & Roebuck were selling firearms by mail order early in the twentieth century. And nobody knows who has them and who don't.

I have no idea the trade off between a shotgun with 6 shots (with the plug removed) and a 30 or 50 round AR that easily shoots thru walls. What I do think is that life without AR's would not be any worse.

 

Think what you like but a shotgun is more dangerous against cops with bullet proof vest than an "assault weapons. A scared kid can start pulling the trigger while pointing in the general direction and every trigger pull launches multiple projectiles in a wide pattern.
