It was rhetorical. I already know the answers. I hope you do as well.

I cannot imagine such a thing in my area. Nobody at the polls knows or cares what your intentions are when you walk in. I hear that up north, black Panthers may station themselves near the entry and glare menacingly at voters as they approach.

It is also an obligation of your faith - to testify/witness/evangelize. I have had many Christians share their testimony with me - and while I may not believe as they do, I respect their commitment and their faith. On two occasions, their testimony went a little too far - they asserted their view that I would go to hell if I did not accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. At that point, I'm out. I respect those Christians who act 'Christ-like' - but not those who only speak about it.

The pope refused to accept the resignation of a convicted cardinal who sheltered pedophiles. The pope loses even more credibility if that's possible.

When they had the big hoopla meeting about this crisis in Rome recently they all should have been in sackcloth and ashes, not their expensive robes. It was just another dog and pony show.

The Pope is an enabler, who puts his institution ahead of children.

That sounds like a great idea. What is the deadline? If before election day wouldn't that negate the last few days of campaigning?

Lets be honest- The Pope is a Satan-worshipping, child-raping communist. The Catholic Church has been corrupted and weaponized by globalist collectivists. Not all, or even most Catholics are 'in on it' (most are just good, everyday folk) but the power establishment of the organization has been taken over by evil, as tends to happen when any spiritual organization builds wealth and power.

Carson is a total idiot. And no evidence at all of any significant voting by illegals. Remember Trump's big study to prove the three million illegal votes.

Many of us thought the same of Obama.

"Fifteen percent of black respondents and 14 percent of Hispanic respondents said that they had trouble finding polling places on Election Day, versus 5 percent of whites."

Whose fault is that? Is the article saying they are stupider?

The deadline is the voting date for the nation in national elections.

If you have your ballot postmarked by that date your ballot will be counted.

I like that it does negate some of the lase minute nonsense. That wasn't a consideration in selecting this system, though.

That shows how little individual fraud there is compared to the number of votes cast.

I'm totally in favor of pursuing those cases and prosecuting, of course.

But, I don't see ANY indication that it is significant compared to the assaults on registration, registration purges, swapping around locations (making it harder to find or to get to), unsecure absentee systems (such as in NC), unequal distribution of voting places and equipment (leading to no lines vs. long lines), changing ID law, closing down ID/registration locations in specific areas where you don't want the people to be successful in voting, etc., etc., etc.

Just the fact that election dates tend to be on work days means wage earners have to pay in lost wages in order to vote - while salaried employees see no hit. Extended polling days helps, but those aids have been cut back in many places.

From the link: "This database is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list, but is intended to demonstrate the many ways in which fraud is committed."

Sounds like a good idea, as long as the USPO cooperates. I've had mail not postmarked the same day I sent it.

The article appears to limit itself to the illegal behavior of individual voters.

I do not see evidence that individual voters are an issue.

Actions such as are easily available to officials who control elections have far more power to influence elections.

    Well, that's not good!

I haven't run into that one. However, there are a good number of receptacles placed at government buildings and specifically designed for accepting ballots. They get closed at the election deadline. And, voters have at least a couple weeks. Also, the post offices around here do promise to postmark ballots up to deadlines. Of course, that doesn't include mail picked up at your house. If you're going that route, you have to give them a day or so.

I'd point out that every state has an absentee voter system. All we did was to make that system secure and then use it for everyone - rather than having TWO systems like most states have.

Plus, vote by mail costs less, since there are no polling stations - so no equipment, personel, etc.

Exactly, a lot of people don't vote just because of the hassle.

    True.

I think there are also reasons beyond laziness for people not voting.

There are those who have to lose wages in order to vote, don't have transportation options that work, etc.

There are those who find that their names were purged from the lists of registered voters, who don't have the proper ID, etc.

There are those who don't have the physical stamina to stand in line for the required time, or have home responsibilities concerning children and other family members.

    I could go on.

Also, I absolutely do NOT trust voting machines. We've seen such systems fail spectacularly - the only question being whether it was on purpose. Plus, there is no real way to investigate when there isn't a paper trail. Today, many of these machines have been in use longer than their projected life spans, leaving fewer that work (reducing access by voters), and leaving them more susceptible to modern methods of corruption.

Part of me is in favor of uniformed people too lazy to go to the polling place just staying home. Do we really want 100% voter participation, from people who have no clue what they're voting on?

I know what you mean on that one.

However, the issues I mentioned above aren't based on "lazy".

I'd point out that our absentee voting systems have serious weaknesses. NC is just one example of what that can mean.

If we made those systems secure, then we could save both money and time by using that system and just not bothering with having polling places - which we know to have significant issues as implemented today.

==> For those states that are considering buying replacement voting machines (at serious expense) how about NOT spending those tax dollars - and having a more secure system that is easier to use and costs less to run?

there have been historical periods where this has happened and in each instance numerous wars break out because of the tendency for "religious" types to be war like

You may have thought that about Obama but in Carson's case there is proof. Remember the pyramids being built for grain storage?

    And if you need more:

No, those are political positions held by a lot of people that you disagree with, they would make good thread topics on PF. People who are brain surgeons generally aren't idiots.
