As an independent businessman I making between $100k and $200k a year I have paid through the nose for taxes while billionaires and corporations have used loopholes to avoid paying their fair share. I have managed to do pretty well however those with billions have thrived over the last 40 years while the middle class has shrunken. CEO salaries have ballooned while workers wages have remained stagnant since 1980.

The zero sum myth strikes again. Amazing how the concept of wealth creation is so poorly understood by the left.

 

Creation of wealth is great if there is a level playing field. However at this point, it seems that billionaires and wealthy corporations have hired lobbyists that write legislation which is passed by whores in both houses of Congress allowing them to reap the lions share of the wealth while avoiding paying their share of the cost of running the country and leaving the burden on middle class workers. Why did Trump and the GOP Congress give a 20% corporate tax cut and only a small cut to middle class instead of the other way around?

What is poorly understood is the way that huge international corporations buy our representatives with their wealth and continually screw the middle class. Some of those running for President right now understand this very well and hopefully they will be elected along with non whore Congressmen and Senators who will take steps to reverse these trends and build the middle class. I would love to see a President who will hire a Secretary Of Treasury who is not a Goldman Sachs Stooge like the last 3 Presidents have, a Secretary Of Labor who is pro Union instead of a corporate lackey like we have now and maybe even a Secretary Of the interior who is not working for Monsanto. Trump ran on draining the swamp and whines about the Deep State but he has hired the same swamp rats and bank swindlers to key positions. His rhetoric is all a bunch of bullshit.

Are you looking at wages only or standard of living? Wages are meaningless if one has a good standard of living. I remember gas shortages and other shortages in the 70s. That all ended when Reagan was elected.

While wages have remained stagnant it seems the standard of living has improved. One of the biggest problems poor people have today is obesity so not many folks are going hungry.

 

The reason for middleclass stagnation in my opinion is globalization

Our representatives have sold us out to international corporations and bank swindlers. Trump is no different than the past 5-6 Presidents in that category. I knew that as soon as he appointed another Goldman Sachs swindler as Secretary Of Treasury. Same with Obama, Bush and Clinton. I would like to see a President appoint someone like Ron or Rand Paul or Elizabeth Warren for Sec Of Treasury who will represent the citizens and protect against the international bank swindlers. For 40 years now the Fox is watching the chicken coop.
