Ahhhh, yet another magat conspiracy Now it's the poor screwing those poor rich people Bwahahahahaha, your posts are hilarious
I use your post as fun to read while I am taking a dump.. it's more fun to read on the toilet then mad magazine Ha ha ha ..
The people paying minimum wage need to understand that due to inflation, the minimum wage can not remain the exact same fixed price for eternity.
You never can get rid of human exploitation, and people who need help due to disabilities. You can not expect a soldier whose legs got blown off compete in a world as if he is able to do everything. Hence minimum wage and welfare.
People can still get fired for not doing their job correctly. The examples of having a peace of cheese tossed to the side of a burger doesn't seem to be performing a job correctly. That's refusing to do your job. I do not care about your alleged personal experience. Your example is just petty. Boeing had 2 planes dropping out of the sky. They still can not get them planes flying safely. Them bankers were still getting their bonuses for a job well done while the banks went bust and Obama was bailing them out. It's warranted because you can't make a living on less money. The government is aiding companies to underpay their staff, so the staff is able to get food on the table. Have you heard about something called "inflation"? That's the reason why minimum wage can not be a fixed price for eternity.
The government is aiding the farmers with billions a year in order to make the products cheaper. The government is aiding the companies to undercut wages because the government chips in with food stamps. You must love communism if you're in favor of this system.
But the point is that the person performing the job incorrectly is demanding $15 an hour... No, it's not. It illustrates the point perfectly... Think of all the Boeing aircraft that didn't fall out of the sky. The percentage that did is pretty damn small... Minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage. I haven't had a minimum wage job since 1979, when I was 17 and still in high school... I don't even know what the Hell that's supposed to mean...
No companies aid the government welfare system to hire citizens and ease the tax payer burden. If those companies didnt exist what would happen? A) more money payed out in government welfare? B) more money payed out in government welfare? Minimum wage doesn't keep up with inflation, but welfare programs sure do. You could raise the minimum wage up to $50 bucks and hour and working people would still be getting WELFARE Minimum wage is the bottom, zilch, nothing
I know this kind of 'wage' topic typically orbits around the food service industry, but please look way beyond that one sector -- to areas that are much more important. For instance, consider computer technology! Remember twenty years ago? Remember how many hardware problems there were, and how unreliable and fragile a lot of that hardware was? Remember what a pain in the ass it was to install and configure a modem? Remember how clunky and primitive Windows itself was? Now, fast-forward to today! Look at how much more robust and damned-near unbreakable most hardware is! Look at how much more user-friendly and powerful the software is! And, as good as it's gotten, look at how many people have started using smartphones instead of desktops and notebook computers -- and how very powerful and robust those smartphones have also become! What's this got to do with wages? Well, if you don't need to pay for huge numbers of high-priced 'eggheads' to maintain vast numbers of 'subscriber units' then those savings go right to the bottom-line of corporations that used to HAVE TO HAVE THEM. Sure, they will always need an elite staff of REAL 'eggheads' to maintain and modify server farms, libraries, etc., but the don't need many of them.... Hint: you can easily build your own desktop computer today from scratch, and you don't need a 'Master's Degree' to do it, either! You can load the software needed to run effortlessly and have the whole thing put together and functioning fully in no more than about four or five hours (most of which is taken up in the loading and configuration of the software). Twenty-five years ago a comparatively primitive computer that couldn't do much of anything but data entry cost over $2,000... remember? Put all this in perspective and you can see why more and more run-of-the-mill computer "techs" are rapidly becoming today's "burger-flippers", or, unemployed altogether....
I wish my first Macintosh was like $2,500 bucks , my first scanner was $1,000 bucks , my first printer $900 bucks my first laptop was around $4,000
Once again only like 2% of workers make minimum wage , 40% of workers make $15 bucks or less Who the hell wants to tell family after 8 years on the job they now make minimum wage at Christmas time Yahoo I now make minimum wage!!!
It will weed out the smaller businesses who can't absorb the increased expense, first. Bigger businesses will be better able to absorb the extra cost. So in essence this liberal plan helps big businesses and screws smaller ones. Unintended consequences, or the typical shortsightedness of the liberal ideology?? A big chain like Applebees or TGI Fridays will be more equipped to absorb the extra cost while they wait for the dust to settle; Mom & Pop, not so much. "Make room for companies who employ higher skilled people"? So by your logic, we eliminate the businesses who employ minimally skilled people ---- burger flippers, cashiers, etc ---- to "make room for companies who employ higher skilled people"? Another flaw in your logic ---- if raising the minimum wage causes businesses to reduce their number of employees, what do you think becomes of those people who are now unemployed? They turn to welfare. So now someone who may have been getting foodstamps becomes someone getting a full ride on the welfare bus. How is that a win, liberal math? Amen. This is a problem with the liberal/progressive mentality in general ---- the idea that everyone who is a failure is a victim, and nobody is responsible for their own situations. Conservatives: personal responsibility, get a job, try harder, learn a skill Liberals: it's not your fault, someone else is to blame, we'll take some money from the successful guy and give it to you Especially if they care about the economy and/or if they have a job and/or if they own a business. The only people who might benefit from electing a Democrat are the welfare class, illegal immigrants, and maybe college kids who racked up a gazillion dollars in debt for some useless degree which will never pay for itself. ??? Nobody is talking about the disabled. Talk about trying to change the subject.... Able bodied adults should not be receiving welfare and they certainly shouldn't be receiving long term welfare. They also shouldn't be paid inflated wages for no-skill jobs just so they can live lazily forever making a living at that same no-skill job. Minimum wage jobs are a starting point, not a lifelong career choice. This should be reflected in the pay.
I remember those days, too, William, because I'm an 'old guy' who watched all of it come into existence. Oh, and remember what it entailed when any of that wonderful, expensive stuff needed to be installed, repaired, or modified? You had get the approvals of three layers of upper-management for a purchase order because the bills were astronomical! Today? You just throw the old one in the trash and order a new one online.... Ooh! How do those $100-dollar-per-hour 'eggheads' make their BMW payments after they get notice to clean out their desks, or, the corp they work for gets bought out by another outfit, and then they are invited to RE-APPLY for their jobs at half the pay, and half the benefits! Conclusion: the entire relationship between 'worker' and 'work' is going to change completely during the next twenty years....
Since people demanding government-imposed minimum wage increases can't do math (much less economics)...here is a chart of the effect of legislating base wage increases, no math required.
For some unknown reasons some people think if we raise minimum wage and tie it into inflation people will get ahead, never will happen just trickle up poor and eventually every one will make the same damn wage and no one will care anymore a 60 year old making the same wage as a low skilled burger flipper, will say FU.
This must be the rights plan to compete with China. Allow US companies to hold workers pay stagnate while China increases wages. Won't be long now before the Chinese start complaining about that cheap US labor.
There will always be higher pay for higher skills. A doctor won't go through 12 years of college to make the same pay as a shelf stocker at Wal-Mart. If that were the case, not many people would have any incentive to aspire to achieve any higher college degree than a master's in "burger flipping". If the minimum doubles from $7.50 to $15.00, someone making $15.00 will demand $30.00 and someone making $100 will demand $200. Then the cost of every product from a rotisserie chicken to knee-replacement surgery, and everything in between will more than double because of the increase to the businesses' cost of labor and/or from business layoffs which decreases their output of products available for purchase. Add supply shortages to the list on impacts.
I had this argument before with someone, they can demand it all they want, someone making $15 bucks today will only make $15.25 tomorrow Its economics they dont have the money
