how would we know if what we are doing is making one lick of difference ?

Either lock the whole world in their homes and let them sit with their dead and dying until every last virus is degraded, or move on with life.

Yes, and those suffering from the Chinese Wuhan Coronavirus should be given hydroxychloroquine until a better treatment is available - might even be able to open the economy before Easter.

I must correct myself. The 97% by day 5 figure is percentage of patients that had viral loads low enough to be unable to be cultured. By PCR test it took 8 days to reach 93% of patients undetectable.

    My apologies.

Because Trump likes it, therefore it's bad. Not much better explanation. Two democratic governors have banned it from being used in their state. How does anyone with a rational mind come up with this?

Az man injected chloroquine phosphate. Fake news above was pedaled by CNN/ MSNBC.

The positive news on hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin continues. Dr. Zelenko has added zinc phosphate.

Exactly. Those governors would rather people die than acknowledge anything positive about the dreaded Orange Man.

For some reason, I’m getting the idea that you think the China virus is giving Democrats some sort of political clout, some sort of political advantage, and you hope it wins in order to beat trump. (News flash, it isn’t. Trump is kicking ass and taking names)
If my intuition is right, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope the medication and equipment is available for you.

You obviously have the WRONG idea.

And, you have completely misjudged my posts on the matter.

I want the coronavirus to be gotten under control as soon as possible.

In my opinion, Trump is Toast (in November) either way.

Even if this "Virus Crisis" hadn't happened, Trump was headed to defeat.

Anyway, I am in favor of any sort of therapy, etc. that can actually lessen the severity of symptoms.

This study mentioned in the OP is better than nothing, but it isn't any sort of "magic bullet".

And, the worse thing that the USA could do is to let their guard down based on the "false hope" that an unproven therapy can bring.

That is the 10 billion dollar question. In any spread, the chain is started by original holders of the virus, then those whom they come into contact with.

Instead of thinking of it as one whole State(which thankfully it's not), it's rather a chain of people within a bracket.

The issue is that finding those people(before they make new connections and new brackets. Like a family tree of sorts) is like finding a needle in a haystack. The needles though pile up, and that's where the confusion stems.

That's why they say it can't be proportional forever. This rate will go down, and there's no way necessarily it's billions(so long as travel continues to be restricted.)

From what we know on the cellular level, zinc is responsible for inhibiting replication of the virus RNA. Chloroquine helps zinc get into the infected cell where it can slow replication of the virus. While a person with adequate zinc intake/absorption from their diet would theoretically not need the zinc supplementation with chloroquine, I doubt many people with severe C-19 symptoms are going to be eating well. It would be malpractice in my opinion to administer chloroquine without a zinc supplement in this case.

Zinc also plays many roles in the natural immune system. In my line of work, we always administer a zinc supplement (subcutaneous injection including zinc, copper, manganese and selenium) when vaccinating and often when treating infectious disease.

Um, I am not sure you know this, but all drugs are tested on groups who's size is not representative of the entire worlds population.....

In the link it states that the study did not have controls because that would break the doctors oath

Give me a moment. Before I can rebut that I first have to channel my inner leftist . . . okay I think I'm ready to give it a try: B-B-But the fish tank cleaner couple proved that drinking something almost like it is deadly! There. That actually hurt my brain but I somehow feel a sense of accomplishment.

Yes. IMO giving placebos to sick people is immoral. For some reason the FDA does not understand that the efficacy of medications can be determined without using placebos.

The medicines have been proven safe through previous use. Since there is no danger, there is no reason to not try the medicine immediately.

I have used zinc for decades when I get the first sign of a cold or flu. It works great. I have always wondered why more people do not know about it...

Chloroquine was developed as a Malaria drug in 1955. Currently one million take it annually. There is a possible vision side effect so those who take it regularly have eye exams yearly.
