Thinking of myself as already dead at that age helped a great deal, helped make me cold and emotionless, helped me do my job.

That is all good and true concerning the influenza virus. That's why it is a guessing game which vaccine to use every year.
We have had other Corona virus outbreaks, they mutate very fast in the beginning and than for some odd reason stop. ABC and than...………………..
    That's why I ask, has anybody heard of a D or E c19?
    D is overdue.

A covid-19 virus don't give a damn about who; if it can get a foothold inside of whosoever walks the earth, it's job is to kill or make as sick as possible, be it Boris Johnson or some poor Mexican gal victim of the sex-trafficking gangs, and then spread and kill some more whosoevers.

New risk factor? People susceptible to blood clots.

They're finding that Covid impacts the entire system, not just the lungs/respiratory system. Part of the immune response seems to be creating blood clots in most patients. People predisposed to blood clots will be at higher risk.

    https://www.yahoo.com/gma/why-many-...ood-clots-100306024--abc-news-topstories.html

"Though novel coronavirus symptoms thus far have presented chiefly within the respiratory system, the infection is swiftly showing to be an all-out, system-wide assault that reaches far past the lungs. Doctors in hot spots across the globe have begun to report an unexpected prevalence of blood clotting among COVID cases, in what could pose a perfect storm of potentially fatal risk factors."

"This virus is affecting the lungs, but it appears to be causing inflammation of the whole body," Dr. Viren Kaul, a pulmonary critical care specialist at Crouse Health and an assistant professor of medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University, told ABC News. With those patients at a higher risk of clotting, doctors must identify those individuals a quickly as possible."

So what contributes to blood clots?

    Sitting for long periods
    Cancer
    Pregnancy
    Obesity
    Smoking
    Irregular hearbeat (atrial fibrillation)
    Birth control pills (estrogen)
    Family history (genetic conditions)
    Age (60+)

So if you are sitting at home don’t “sit” at home. :D:D Many of the preconditions lead to blood clots but there are some new ones.

Essentially, this will go until there's a vaccine, that's the end game. But there are ways we can deal with it in the interim. The stay-at-home was part of the first step. We didn't have the testing, the facilities, the equipment at first to just deal with this without some big response. But hopefully these stay-at-homes have slowed things down enough, bought us some time, to get the infrastructure and equipment going to be able to deal with a sustained pandemic until we get a vaccine.

To be sure, this is a dangerous virus. Even with social distancing, we're sitting at 42K deaths and an over 5% mortality rate. Without these measures, this would already be far worse. For perspective, H1N1 took a full year to reach 18K deaths, and those deaths are a high-estimate. So in the span of months, we've doubled the H1N1 deaths. It's important to take this seriously and move forward so we can intelligently deal with this crisis and being reopening the economies.

What about to wear all of use this ...

... it's a very usefully sea mask produced by Decathlon but also by many others (I have bought it in Lidl...). This mask is special: it never fogs, and you breath from a hole at the top: you are similar to a small ...

... submarine. I think it could be possible also to put some filter at the top to the mask, something like a standing condom, but with active carbon materials.

What do you thing. Is it a good idea...?

    Exactly.

Except, Trump ISN'T taking it seriously.

Trump is hoping to reopen too soon, bring on as much death as possible, while he eggs on his voters to whine about Cabin Fever.

    Thanks alot, Trump!

Again you ignore the death and mayhem from high unemployment in your political partisanship. It isn't just Trump, lots of governors including Democratic ones are chomping at the bit to take steps to re-open. We the people won't stand for months more of these closures.

Also my intentions are good and sincere.
I am sure the only way to stop the mass killing in the United States, as well the mass killing is going on here in my country (specially in my Region) one of the worst hit. We have to let in all the hundreds thousands of refugee that are trying to enter in our countries. I mean those ones...

... and these ones in ours seas...

... are you horrified by the picture above...? Keep in mind that you are not the only one that has seen that scene.

Everything, everything, everything in this Universe, also the smallest event in the most remote corner of Cosmo, it is determined, foreseen, wanted and put in order by God. Read those senteces below...

Btthegreat, those words above are very simple. Anybody can understand them. Just our very guilty conscience may not.

And we have not excuse: for instance, if we plant crops just for human feeding in the fertile valley of Mississippi and Missouri, we will have enough food for all the 7 billlions of men on Earth right now. We have just to convert our hyper protein diet of steak and hamburger to one based on wheat and leguminous plants, and, in a fortnight, we will have 16 times more food for everybody in the World. All the surplus, has to depart immediately bound to Nigeria, High land of Perù, Bangladesh, etc.

And, tomorrow, we have to let get in all the refugee escaping from Mexican madhouse, or the carnage in Sudan. Without any restriction.

Otherwise, day by day, little by little, this virus will kill all of us... Do you remember what God did to the Pharaon, as he didn't let the Jewish to escape after 9 terrible Plagues? He killed all the kids of Egypt. Now, if you noted, this mysterious virus has not killed a baby all around the World.

Is it a combination? Or, just a corresponding...?

You have not to mind those who will get ill, but those who will die.

Here, in Italy, we have a very large China Town in Milan (North Italy). Everybody was very suspicious about that community, as they could be (obviously) the most contagious for their travels from China. But nobody has reached our hospital.

The same has appended we the poor illegal black immigrant who are working 12 hours a day, for 2 euros a hours, in our disgusting slums in South Italy, managed by our mafias. Just the same: we registered no black men in our hospital.

This is not strange. This is statistically impossible...

Trump has the ability to reduce the likelihood that many of his supporters will push for policy decisions that will make this virus, and inevitably the economy, much worse in the short and long term.

Instead, he has made the politically self-interested decision to voice support for a minority opinion that will result in more harm and destruction for those relevant communities.

Yeah, I think your right. Maybe later I will combine the three EU countries from the calendar date instead of individual peaks and see what it looks like.
I just don't like the answer I guess. It means even a couple months from now we will still be talking about how many deaths today.

So I ran those linked articles through Google translate.

The first says that migrants in Italy are being told that they can't get Coronavirus because they have all been vaccinated against Tuberculosis. The response from Roberto Burioni is that is a myth (the migrants are being lied to).

The second article's headline suggests that Chinese migrants in Italy are immune to Coronavirus, but deeper down in the article, it explains that the Chinese have a community instinct for self-protection and that they voluntarily started social-distancing measures one-month ahead of the Italian government's lockdown orders.

    • Chinese scientists have found that Europe and America’s East Coast have been infected by some of the most aggressive Covid-19 strains, as they discovered dozens of virus mutations. These destroy a host’s cells faster than others.
The ability of the novel coronavirus to mutate has been previously vastly underestimated, a team from China’s Zhejiang University, led by Professor Li Lanjuan, says in a new study. The group found as many as 33 virus mutations in just 11 coronavirus patients they examined in the city of Hangzhou.

The researchers say that 60 percent of the strains they discovered turned out to be entirely new. In a worrying development, they also discovered that the virus’s mutations directly affect its deadliness. Their research revealed that the most aggressive type of Covid-19 could create a virus load 270 times greater than the least potent one.

“Despite only 11 patient-derived isolates being analyzed in this study, we observed abundant mutational diversity, including several founding mutations for different major clusters of viruses now circulating globally,” the study said.

The virus load is the measure of its quantity in a certain volume of bodily fluid, usually blood plasma. It particularly shows how quickly a pathogen could propagate through the organism and destroy its cells. Unfortunately for Europeans, one of the most aggressive strains found by the Chinese scientists appears to be similar to the one that has spread across the continent, particularly Italy and Spain, the pre-print of the study published on the website medRxiv.org revealed on Sunday.

The same strain came from Europe to New York, which has since become one of the worst affected US states. America’s West Coast, however, appears to be infected by another, less deadly strain that arrived directly from China.

    https://www.rt.com/news/486425-covid-19-mutations-deadlier-strains/

The embedded link will take you to the pre-print and, at that site, the pdf is available for download.

Beyond what the RT article highlights, the pdf notes that one patient remained positive for the virus for a period of 45 days.

What I posted above goes a long way in explaining why some correctly (from their point of view) see this virus as just the flu and others correctly (from their point of view) see this virus as a deadly pandemic. Differing points of view are colored by the prevailing strain of the virus on their area and the impact on the people there.

Some areas are dealing with a variation that is mild and quite like the flu. Others are dealing with a more virulent variation that can kill even the most healthy among us.

This is all very pertinent as we consider opening up society more. The possible outcomes are obvious.
