Summer 2021 is ALREADY in Jeopardy.

In terms of things like Sporting Events, Concerts, and Large Public Gatherings, the USA might be looking at Spring 2022 (at the earliest).

I appreciate your confirming my comment. The economic shutdown hurt people and they rebelled against it causing the spike. It was truly idiotic and authoritarian to close businesses and common sense makes that perfectly clear.

For Trump to win, there would have to be a major shift in voting intentions.

The odds of that happening are miniscule.

Biden doesn't need much to win, he's ahead in Florida (+5%), Michigan (+7.5%), Pennsylvania (+7%) and Wisconsin (+6.5%).

States narrowly won by Trump in 2016.

How could be too late to correct what should never have been done? It is too late to save some lives but it is the only way forward. Americans won't put up with the authoritarianism being displayed by government. The more authoritarian government becomes, the harder Americans will fight against it.

And once again, back to the OP, any sort of "Mass Reopening" can only come AFTER the development of a Proven Vaccine.

 

The previous shut downs were state by state because...they had the legal authority to shut down their own states. I'm not sure what new constitutional power Biden is going to find to institute a national shutdown. If you could direct me to the correct legal resources, I would appreciate it.

 

It probably won't happen until after Biden Wins, and The Dems Take the Senate (and Eliminate the Filibuster).

Maybe next year (if it becomes necessary).

 

I was asking about the legal basis, not the brute power basis.

 

That would require that the president invoke the Defense Production Act to force manufactuers to retool their factories to make masks, other PPE gear, ICU beds, ventillatros, and so forth. Plus, the prssident would have to sign an Executive Order to mandate that we wear masks when out in public.

Good luck with that. Our current president does nothing, plans nothing, provides zero leadership, and basically just wishes this virus away, like a toddler.

If everybody is doing what they are supposed to do, you can drive the incidence of infection well below R(0).

We are shipping ventilators to other countries, NYC ended up with a surplus. There has been no need for the DPA to this point and I have no idea why Democrats are so insistent unless they have a way to turn it against him at some point. Relax, the President has this. Now on a local level you might want to rethink your choices in leadership.
