No, but it WAS possible in this case. See, the difference between me not following the rules and the #1 ranked tennis player is millions of dollars. And I'm not talking about how much Djokovic stands to lose. Him being there benefits the entire sport. But what pisses me off more than anything is that the rules are in place to "protect" Australian health. That is the spirit of the law. If it can be shown that a person is not a threat then they should be able to stay. Seems to me this is more political than anything and the entire tennis community loses.

Ask your doctor, or ask those who are fighting for their lives being sick for the 2nd time. Natural immunity lasts for a short time, and is about 19% effective against Omicron.

    Some are. Most are not.
To rely on acquired immunity everyone would have to or we're back to square one.
You're basically saying you have to burn the village to save the village.

Come on… the only merit that dude has is that he can hit a tennis ball really hard. He did invent or build anything, he’s a rich trained monkey. Beside that, he has no value to the world. Remove professional sport in this world and 3 things will happen: 1- there will be less entitled crybaby millionaires on TV, 2- less nonsensical partisanship based on jersey Colors, 3- Less child abuse by parents forcing their dreams of being pro sport athlete on their kids.

When I was a kid, there was ONE hockey game on TV per week, on Saturday. On Sunday we had concerts or theatre. Now we have hockey games in the middle of afternoon during the week, twice on Saturday and Sunday, with a pre and post game analysis, as if hockey was that difficult of a subject. Oh, and those sport entitled brats keep asking for tax payers money to build themselves new arenas or other stadiums, while not paying their share of taxes or even living here.

This is simply not true. Depending on where you are, most people testing positive are vaccinated. I thought this was common knowledge.

Yeah well... say you pick 90 blue glass marbels and 10 red glass marbels, and you put them in your backpack for an entire day,... and you end up on average with 30 broken blue marbels and 9 red every damn time at the end of the day. You can always say that you break more blue marbels then red ones. That's how you might view it all. Everybody else sees that breaking 33% blue ones and 90% red ones matters far more then overal numbers.

While I seriously doubt that more vaxxed people end up testing positive.... anyways.

Umm, well, the point was that vaccinated people can and do catch and spread covid. This is not an uncommon event either. Like I said, it's common knowledge. Please do try to keep up.

It's probably true, only because Omicron is hitting almost everybody and the majority of the planet is vaccinated.

The dividing line is no longer who tests positive... it's who hits the hospitals and who dies...

Well, I would add that he can hit it accurately while hitting it really hard (I mean I can hit a tennis ball really hard) and he can do it for 2-4 hours at a time...

He's a helluva athlete... no denying..... makes his self-imposed absence all the more sad....

    Pfff..
"most people testing positive are vaccinated" is not exactly the same as claiming "vaccinated people can and do catch and spread covid".
Your bs is not able to keep up with.

Yep he is. And the rest of the players missed the chance to compete against him. And anyone who stood to make money off promotions, sponsorships / marketing is also losing. Fewer eyeballs on the screen always equates to less $$ errr €. So no, Novak is not the only loser in the equation. It would be one thing if he were a legitimate health risk, but he's not. And everyone knows it! Unfortunately it was more important for the petty idiots in the Aussie government to make a political statement. Utterly inexcusable.

One man's political statement is another man's rule enforcement... At the end of the day, this is 95% on Novak, since winners write the history...

This current story is not tennis (golf) and it's not about vaccinations (money), but it is about a superstar having to make a decision about his future, and how his career might be perceived going forward...

    SNIP
Henrik Stenson has been told he must choose between the Saudis’ Super Golf League and the Europe Ryder Cup team if he wants to become his continent’s next captain.

Stenson, 45, is considered the leading contender to replace Padraig Harrington in what is emerging as a three-horse race.

Normally, the decision by the selection panel – which includes the three most recent Europe captains – would be made this week in Abu Dhabi, but sources have revealed that the decision will be delayed until late next month.
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/henrik-stenson-faces-ultimatum-must-194208947.html

Thoughts? I expect the Aussies don't care much about the Ryder Cup (do you care about the President's Cup?), but it stands to become another interesting sports story.

What would suck (from his standpoint) is that he bails on the Saudi blood money and he still doesn't become captain....

He must not wantto play tennis all that bad. If his stance on beng unvaccianted ismoreimportant than his tennis game and reputation........... so be it.

He would have no problem getting into the USA...........as "unvaccinated" is a political stamen;t ......and a
    badge pf Honor.......
Public Health be damned. Medical advice irreverent. Novak will fit right in..

Other countries .......not so much. (and for good reason)
