I question that, too. There is no testing requirement in most countries, when you are double or booster vaccinated. Testing requirements are for un-vaccinated, in most countries. In the US some jobs require testing if you have cold of flew type symptoms.
I am in the US, we have the 2-3 day bug going around, you feel like crap for 2 days, do people go and get tested, no.
Or you work for me, you show symptoms, you get tested and come not to work till the results are in. But that is just me, fully vaccinated and a booster are a must for employment and so on.
Nope, the vaccinated rarely go to a testing station, wait in line and wait 3 days ( US standard ) for a result.
I had the 2-3 day bug twice since Christmas, stood in line, talked to the people, I was the only vaccinated.
    Its anecdotal, I know.
Omicron, is no big deal for a vaccinated, people have forgotten about the real problem, Delta. That is the killer and it has not gone away.
What fills US ICUs, Delta, not Omicron.
Yes we have the Omicron wave, its milder, but underneath it, is Delta.

I question the testing thingy, without having been shown, real scientific data from a reliable source.

Till than I call it BS, anti vaxer BS.

Nope, Europeans are only allowed into the US if they are fully vaccinated and can show proof of it.

I had the "bug" (mine was nearly 4 full days, but only 2 of them were really crappy symptom wise) right after Christmas, and didn't bother getting tested... .I'm retired and had no real need to go anywhere for 10 days, so I didn't... Also, I heard that the results from my closest testing site were taking a full week to come in, so that killed that idea for me....

There's so much anti-vax BS, it's hard to keep it straight, but the current anecdotal word is that a lot of vaccinated people are getting COVID, but surviving it easily. What I said just makes sense to me.... doesn't mean it's correct and I won't try and back it up...

I haven't checked, but is anybody reporting hospitalization by COVID variant these days??

They wouldn't shed a tear when they make 40K more for qualifying themselves it to the 1st round just because Djokovic aint there.
Tennis is their source of income, see. It's not a charity thing where you hope you get to meet people and mingle around.

The tournament hasn't had this much attention in ages.

Things are going from bad to worse for our beleaguered star. Now his sponsors are considering abandoning ship.

Lacoste, the French clothing giant whose contract with Djokovic is reported to be valued at $US9 million ($12.5 million), broke its silence on Monday.

“As soon as possible, we will be in touch with Novak Djokovic to review the events that have accompanied his presence in Australia,” Lacoste said in a statement.

It's a good question. It probably depends on whether variant detection is part of the basic diagnostic, or whether special testing is needed.

Because essentially COVID is a disease affecting the lining of your blood vessels it has been shown to have a devastating effect if you are positive and undergo surgery so expect hospitals to continue testing for a while

Who would argue otherwise. Not a question. And of course, you can craft then whatever BS you want to control said borders.

That hasn't ever been the question at hand though. The question was y'all not being able to be on the same page because you have some folks more interested in asserting a political dranconianism based on fear rather than science vis a vis this vaccination mandate y'all have. And not being consistent, or treating folks ethically. That was the actual conversation.

So, Australia just chose. As a function of having chosen, don't expect that there won't be consequences. Why should anyone visit or travel there anymore? It's like your country has devolved into a stassi police state full of non science based medical hysteria.

    Good luck.

Gosh, you mean like which drinking fountain you could use? Or which train car you could ride... these are the justifications segregationists used. Do you find yourself in good company?

You literally have no idea what MAGA was about then. Folks in this country were trying to fight the tyranny. Australia embraces it.

    WTF?
This is about rules to enter a country, and whether having and enforcing entry rules is tyrannical.

The examples you gave were all about domestic racism. If you can’t see the difference, I can’t help you.

You don't think tennis pros are competitive? I'm sure they'd rather have Djokovic in the field.

If you think the tournament will have a larger audience with Djokovic out than in, I have a nice bridge to sell you.

What did they do before he came into the sport and will they survive once he pass on? Nobody is irreplaceable.

    Are you playing dumb?

    Didn't you just wrote this?
Tennis was profitable before and will be after he's gone.

You really do not get this sport. lol
Professionals are in it for the money. This is the source of income. People aren't paired up by the luck of the draw. They get ranked so the worst of the get the hardest route to the finals. The first ranked player the nr 2 might get, is a person ranked as 29th. The next possible (highest) ranked person he might get is a person ranked 13th... at the 1/4 finals. Easy money, and he does it with a smile.

You think people in general sympathize with anti-vaxxers?
Geez... lol .... Where have you been?

So the answer is yes, you do in fact have a problem with reading comprehension. Nowhere did I say the tournament would not be profitable nor did I say he was irreplaceable. What I DID say is that they make more money with him the field than not. I stand by that ocean is wet kind of statement.

The anti-Djokovic protests and the booing crowds would not have been a good look for the tournament though.

Perhaps not a good look but it absolutely would drive ratings up. Hell I don’t even follow tennis and I would have tuned in fwiw.
