Anonymous internet braggarts generally tend to be burger flippers in real life.

Are you seriously saying we need to defend the declaration of independence though? See heres the thing I really don't like about tea partiers, they say things like we need to defend the declaration of independence, carry these little pocket constitutions, but in the end its usually empty. If you ask "well, what exactly in the constitution is under attack?" you're met with blank stares.

I would post a video I took at a tea party in Cincinnati thats featured a lot of bumbling answers about what, exactly, tea partiers are so angry about (aside from canned answers like "OBAMA'S A SOCIALIST!") but i'm not giving anyone here an opportunity to find my real name. So, i'll post this instead:

Stupid people exist in every movement.

"Ralph" probably has an IQ around 85.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the TEA Partier you mentioned was referring to defending the principles articulated in the Declaration.

Do you also think that when people say "defend the Constitution" it's because they think the Articles of Confederation are planning a comeback?

Both sides have a fringe contingency like this. I don't know that I've heard much worse though than someone wishing hundreds of 9/11s.

I think the liberals attract this type of person as it is very trendy for a young person to be progressive. There seems to be this appeal of moral superiority among the movement, it makes you feel good because you're concerned about and helping mankind. You don't actually have to do anything, association is enough.

On the flip side, the conservatives attract a different type of lunatic. I know several republicans who have openly stated all black people should be at worst killed, at best shipped back to Africa.

I don't think either side should be taken seriously as a reflection of the political party, but they should be taken seriously by those in the political party so that those attitudes don't spread.

When I hear a self described conservative saying we should nuke the entire middle east I get defensive, maybe because it makes us conservatives look bad, or maybe because I have family there, but I don't get defensive when a liberal says something terrible. I probably should though, if we can cut off the crazies from both sides, we may actually be able to make some progress.

    So you want a comparison.

Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204479504576637082965745362.html

So we have them on record nearing a 1/3 would support violence in the name of their cause, just like this person in the video. He encouraged attacks on bankers and welcomed murder.

Why are you assuming as many liberals do that your personal experience is a good barometer for what the majority actually think? Its incredibly narcissistic of you to believe that.

What I find troubling is despite all the acts of violence, profane rants, shouting down film crews and attacking people you somehow ignore all of that and instead pretend it doesn't exist.

Do I really have to start posting the videos backing this up?

How about all the crimes committed by the flea party? Are you ignoring them as well?

Like I said previously, we're talking about grossly different demographics and types of movements. In regards to that specific poll, it had 200 participants, Zucotti park has estimates of 3-5000 people coming through each week. Also, the age groups represented in both groups are vastly different, young people are more idealistic, and lets face it stupid. The vast majority of participants are below 32.

I think both movements are comparable, thats just my opinion. And by the way, there HAS been violence at tea party protests and functions. Lest we forget:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtB5KlclM78"]Rand Pauls/Tea party Supporter Stomps on the Head of a Woman. - YouTube[/ame]

More broadly, don't try to assert that violence is a trait only upheld by those on the liberal side of the aisle. My organization had to get bullet proof glass doors after police caught a gunman on his way to shoot up the TIDES office in California. A man who, by the way, openly admitted to being involved with the Tea Party and an avid Glenn Beck fan. Not to mention Anders Brevik this summer, who openly called himself an anti-marxist Christian Crusader. There are crazy people in every movement, and those are the ones the media loves paying attention to the most.

Defending the principles expressed in the Declaration and the laws codified in the Constitution from government over-reach.

I thought you said you've attended TEA Party rallies - how could you have possibly missed out on their "limited government" theme?

Yea but the whole point is that their concern is misdirected at Obama, when the Government has been subverting the Constitution for the past 50 years. Thats my problem with it, I agree that there has been massive overreach by the government, but the hyperbole of calling Obama a socialist, a marxist, a kenyan and everything else just makes the movement seem childish. That, coupled with turning a complete blind eye to the corporations who helped to get us into this economic mess.

    Yep, I am.
More people die every day because of famine, none cares.
Millions of iraqi and afghan civilians died since the invasion but none in US cares and US soldiers laugh while killing them.

    So yes I laugh, I dont give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about 9/11.

Most people, including our soldiers, don't find combat to be a laughing matter.

Most of the people we've killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were either insurgents or members of an opposing army. We actually take extra care to avoid killing civilians, but it's inevitable that some will die. That's the nature of war.

You're right that a lot of people die of things like famine in Africa.

We didn't seem to care much when genocide was happening in Darfur or Rwanda.

Still, 9/11 resonates among more than just Americans. A lot of people from a lot of different countries died in the attacks. While the number of people who died is less than in many civil wars in Africa, the effects of the attack were far-reaching because of both the economic consequences and how diverse the group of victims were.

We really should care more about the deaths in Africa, but I don't think that means we should care less about the 9/11 victims.

That being said, I'm still able to laugh at the jokes. I'm not sure if I would be able to if I had lost someone that day though....

Why don't you deport such a ungrateful scumbag, who is probably robbing your welfare system dry, to somewhere like Outer Mongolia. Or maybe to visit his mates where the 72virgins congregate, together with his beloved Gaddafi.

Who are the worlds biggest donators? Russians? Chinese? Iraqis? Afghanis? It's those evil Americans. The most benevolent and generous people on Earth. And you sit there and spew the party line that Americans are bad people who just want to kill others.

Americans give more to people in this world than all others combined, so you have not only insulted most Americans, but you've also proven your serious lack of intelligence and history.

Why would you think my business is in Idaho? My business is in California, my home is in Idaho, actually my main home. I'm part of the 53% that pay for all the 47% that sit on their asses and refuse to work.

So you were holding the sign at a Tea Party event. I can imagine what kind of story you wrote, unfair and unbalanced of course.
