There are as many definitions of "Christian" as there are species of beetle.

The most traditional is accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and doing your best to live by the philosophy He taught.
The least traditional is simply becoming aware that something beyond our comprehension exist (God) and integrating the (majority of the) philosophy Jesus taught as a guide to a happy life.
As far as the Bible goes, it is interpreted by everyone - even those claiming to take it literally.
I view the vast majority of it as allegorical but I know there are people who believe the world is 6,000 years old, there is no such thing as evolution, a whale actuall swallowed Jonah and then regurgitated him upon a beach a few days later etc...
As far as it being the word of God, since my view is that God is in all of us, I view all positive works as being inspired by the living force which connects us all.

There may be different definitions of "Christians" as you suggest, however not all who call themselves Christians are as Jesus has said. Belief or not that Jesus is one's Savior is the only test. He told us the answer. Believe.

Whether one accepts the Holy Bible as literal, allegorical, historical, partially believe it or any number of other thoughts will not impact one's Salvation if truly saved, however they will miss out on knowing the God that they proclaim to be their God.

On what basis do you believe God is in all of us? For the Word says that only those that accept His Son as their Savior are His children whom the Holy Spirit indwells. Without the Holy Spirit, God is not in one.

You're entitled to your opinions, your views and your interpretations. Who am I, to judge your faith? Jesus tells me that is focusing on the speck in your eye while ignoring the plank in my own.
So whether He said "The I am is the only way to know the The Light" or "You can't be a Christian unless you hate your mom & dad" or "The Kingdom of God is within you" (always a fano fo Luke but my favorite Gospels are those of Thomas and John), the Bible requires interpretation. Obviously we interpret it differently.
Me? I believe God is everywhere, in everyone at all times. You are welcome to believe differently.

I never said anything about Jesus rebuking anyone for worshiping Him. I said He never commanded anyone to do it......worshiping Jesus is a matter of choice. If all you are telling people is about Jesus, but ignore the message that He preached, and which He told us to preach then you are ignore Him. Remember Jesus said, in vain they worship Him teaching the commandments of men. So if the pastor tells you that you must go out and tell people about Jesus, you are following the commandment of men. Here are two questions for you, that I would like you to answer.1) How many people do you know that has never heard about Jesus? 2) How many people do you know that Jesus will set up His kingdom on the Earth, and that the saints will rule with Him?

Now, how you respond to what I am saying will determine if you really understand what the gospel of the kingdom is.

    A Call to True Worship

Psalms 8:1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

Psalms 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

Psalms 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!

Psalms 99:5 Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!

John 4:21-24 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Never been a huge fan of the ancient Hebrew Hymnal but John is may favorite of the canonized Gospels. I guess it's because of the audience it was intended to target. Probably the most spiritually enlightened people of the time.

    1) I know no one who has never heard about Jesus. If they know me, then they've heard of Jesus for I share my witness.

    2) I never quizzed anyone on the issue of setting up His kingdom on the Earth. However, we Christians are the saints He spoke of.

The Word indicates that His kingdom is already on earth, in the personage of each Christian whether one understands this or not. You do understand that the Holy Bible is about Jesus, do you not? The kingdom is a part of Jesus, not the other way around.

Most people in the world heard about Jesus long long before you were born......that's all they hear, but very little if anything of what He preached.

You see you are answering question that I did not ask. The truth is though very few know anything about the government of God being set up on the Earth when Jesus returns, because that is not what the vast majority of Christians tell people about. Even they (Christians) themselves don't even know it.......they believe they are going to Heaven. Which I find a little amusing since God Himself will come and live on the Earth. It’s like they are completely ignorant of God's plan and yet it is in the Bible as clear as day.

If you study the scriptures carefully you will see the kingdom of is not fully here as yet. The kingdom of God is not literally ruling over Nations as it says it will when Jesus returns. The saints have not yet been glorified and the dead in Christ are still dead. It is only when all of the above becomes a reality, then the kingdom of God will be here in full.

I in no way meant to imply that the "church" is a physical building or an established denomination. All I'm saying is that we are commanded as believers to have fellowship with other believers. We then have the example of Paul and the rest of the disciples setting up church's, most of which were probably home groups.

I also did not mean to imply that Peter was the basis for the church, however, Christ definately gave him a special calling to help establish his church abroad. I stand corrected on the term "cornerstone". I believe the term is "pebble".

When did I say that we are to turn our backs upon humanity and spend all our time in church? All I am saying is that Jedi professes to follow Christ, but seems to have turned his back on the church as well as worship to God. Biblically, this position is absurd. How then can he say he is following Christ's example?

It appears to be self-defeating because it is the reality of worship.

    That would be a strawman.

Jedi has among the strongest faith I have ever seen - and, as we are now leaving off the OP entirely, you went to the opposite logic extreme when it is clear that Jedi posses great reverence for Jesus and beleives that service of others is more important than signing in church.

All you did was attempt to pull a couple of non-contextual quotes, as atheists do, and attempt to damage his faith - you made blatant recruitment attempt using a strawman.

It is why he asked the lot of you to stay out.

Of course, like all (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)r atheists (the bad ones, not al atheists are bad), your self worshipping antics ALWAYS result in you being innocent. What a shock.

How about you check out the thread title?

How about you acknowledge that your 'freedom' and 'its a public thread' doesn't mean you get to jump in with the constant grabage spew against religion after someone clearly states that atheists should no participate, because they do not understand the situation.

Well, looks like Jedi is right yet again.

Of course atheism is not at al about telling other people how stupid they are - which of course makes them feel smart - so smart, they can't even offer an intelligent comment on a subject, exactly as charged, that they do not understand.

What a luck that you are not a silly - or how do you call people whose religion is to be against all other religions? "Evolved Primates"? I always thought "evolved primates" are killing human beings in their mothers womb and are thinking this has to do something with justice because they are legalizing to do so - although they are minimizing the possibilities of their own survival in this way? What a tautology. If people are worshiping god - you are also able to say 'the truth' - and are producing in such ways sentences like "The kings servant - but gods first" (Sir Thomas More) or "Whoever I am - I'll always belong to you" (Dietrich Bonhoeffer) or ... then all words you ever spoke in your whole life have not the weight of such a sentence spoken from people who worshiped god.

Even kings in the Bible were worshiped........God never said that no one should worship a human being only idols and images. The Bible tells us that the saints in glory will be worshiped.

Christ was not a mere man. He even told them that before Abraham was he existed. They then tried to stone him of course.

Idolatry is placing anything in front of your God. What difference is there if God decides to then come down in the form of a man?

And this is once again why atheists are asked NOT to participate in this thread - you have no idea what you are talking about and are literally lurching through the question by asking questions.

There are many ways to worship God, and even the best intended can allow their zeal to take them out of the balance that God intended. And that is the problem set in the OP, a man who spends all his time in worship of God to the point that he is out of balance and missing out on the blessings and experiences that God intended.

There are MANY ways to worship, charity, service, mission, fasting, tithing, etc., which you know if you read the Bible.

Somehow though, despite being asked not to, we have a bunch of atheists in here who clearly do not understand the concept, do not know what the Bible says in a comprehensive manner (those proximity searches are not full understanding), and trying to figure out whether or not worship is even a valid exercise? Could you possible miss the popint anymore?

So, a question for atheists: Why do you insist on partipating in a discussion about something you know nothing about and providing absolutely no useful feedback (nice recruitment attempt though)?

Catholics do not worship Saints, they revere them as examples of what is possible. Reverence and acknowledgement of achievement and example is not idol worship.

Lib, I know you, and I respect you. You are a good man.

So, when I ask you this it is not meant as an insult, but why come into a thread about a Christian advice an insight, and offer up instead a derisive view of the Catholic Church?

This is not a subject that atheist understand, why do so many of them nevertheless insist on coming in and offering up opinions rather than advice on the problem set?

No, what you wrote was a blatant recruitment attempt, something I wouold label Bible abuse. Of course, we are supposed to supplicate ourselves to YOUR view?

What you wrte above is certainly of no assistance to Jedi, and is, once again, about YOU. It offers no assistance to anyone, neither Jedi nor his friend.

You offer nothing but derision, and continuously avoid a simple question, "What are you doing in here as an Atheist?"

So, let me break it down for you. The Bible, when used as a tool of aid, is not meant to rush in to people asking for assistance and call them absurd and stupid. What you are doing, using the Bible as a standard, is absurd. Of course, as an atheist, these standards do not apply - but you want to jump into a thread asking for advice and apply 'standards' (which are of course not standards for you at all), in order to call someone stupid?

Well, thanks for that advice - but Jedi predicted that this would be the exact result of atheists coming into this thread.

So, eiter Jedi is a modern day Prophet, or atheists are easily predicatable.

In either case, when someone asks for advice, perhaps you qould try offering up some genuine advice, you know focused on helping the person, rather than just your own opinion.

That is why you were asked to stay out.

it answers the OP, the lamb who was man at one point should be worshipped not idols

catholicism maybe is what is causing the confusion because there are alot of things that are prayed to there but with all respect the lamb who was a man should be worshipped nothing else
