I oppose it because I can't TEACH anyone to shoot with a gun that only lets me fire it, and that is what this technology is really all about. To eventually do away with anyone who can shoot, so that the tyrants (and wannabe tyrants) don't have to fear us, (as they do now, and very much SHOULD fear us, too.

My observation is that lighters are considerably harder for ADULTS to use than they used to be. They also tend to be less reliable, and I know a lot of people who disable the childproofing whenever they can (certain brands of lighters are easy to de-childproof).

As soon as both every police officer in the country, the Secret Service, all federal police forces, the military special operations forces (SEALS and Delta Force especially), as well as the rest of the military adopt these for every single weapon in their arsenal, I will consider it. Until that point, IMHO, they are too unreliable and are unproven technology.

Not often. The accidental death of kids under 12 by guns is fairly low--less than 100 kids a year.

"misfired" means that they didn't go off when the trigger was pulled. Generally, it is because of defective ammunition.

I've been present at probably a dozen misfires. How is that relevant to this, other than that technology will cause a lot of misfires?

Accidents are different than slaughter. Slaughter is intentional. 1000 kids are not "slaughtered" by guns each year.

Nobody is suggesting that the government issue guns and ammunition at the expense of other shooters, through a tax on ammunition and range usage. Another incorrect metaphor.

yeah, you are SO concerned about the kids. WHY do you care if i have a gun, hmm? projection? if YOU had one, you'd do something evil with it? or do you want to do something to me that you know damned well that you should be (and would be) shot for doing?

We ALREADY (volunteered for it) pay an 11% excise tax on all guns and ammo at retail.
