Um... it is stories like this that absolutely guarantee that I will never support socialized medicine. I pay for my own medical care and thus there is no need to triage me. When the government becomes the payer, I can be triaged. Ask any country that has socialized medicine about that. If we have socialized medicine and there is risk of triage by race, I can't imagine support being that high.... in fact I would anticipate violent resistance by the races forced to pay but subject to race based triage. This isn't rocket science...

In my version of the English language, as well as the various dictionaries, minority means smaller. In context we are discussing “minority group” which is typically based on differences in observable characteristics or practices such as religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation and so on.

So it has been a reading comprehension issue / educational lapse this whole time.

I live with socialised medicine (we've had it for decades), and it's WAY better than privatised.

Triage is always medical. When you need treatment, you'll get it. When you can wait, you'll wait.

 

No one is advocating socialized medicine. Most people simply want a national public option that would provide a minimum level of coverage but would also allow the purchase of private insurance. Most places with national healthcare operate in this manner.
