‘We know who he is’: Donald Trump continues to target officer who shot Ashli Babbitt

Former US president Donald Trump has issued an ominous statement saying he knows the identity of the Capitol Police officer who shot dead an insurrectionist during the Capitol riot on January 6.

For several weeks now, Mr Trump has been demanding that authorities publicly identify the officer, even though prosecutors concluded he had no case to answer.

Ms Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran, was among the Trump supporters who attacked the US Capitol in a last-ditch attempt to stop Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.


The officer shot her as she tried to force her way through a barricaded door and enter the Speaker’s Lobby, which is adjacent to the House of Representatives chamber. Members of Congress were still being evacuated from the chamber at the time.

After a three-month investigation, prosecutors said the officer “reasonably believed” it was necessary to open fire to protect both himself and members of Congress.

Nevertheless, Mr Trump has repeatedly brought up Ms Babbitt’s death in public, calling her “innocent” and demanding “justice”.

“I spoke to the wonderful mother and devoted husband of Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered at the hands of someone who should never have pulled the trigger of his gun. We know who he is,” the former president said today.

“If that happened to the ‘other side’, there would be riots all over America and yet, there are far more people represented by Ashli, who truly loved America, than there are on the other side. The Radical Left haters cannot be allowed to get away with this.

“There must be justice!”

What do you think of Donald Trump megaphoning calls for justice? Do you think he really cares about Justice? Why would he release the name of the officer if not to encourage some kind of vigilantism?

My feeling is he should watch his mouth, given his current lack of Presidential immunity.

 

He’s 100% right. When a cop shoots a black guy the cop’s name and race are in the first sentence of the story. A person was shot and killed by a government employee and that employee works for us. There is no reason to hide that person’s name. And you can be damned sure that if the races of the shooter and victim were reversed there would be buildings burning right now.

when a gov employee in law enforcement shoots someone it’s public knowledge. There is paperwork involved when the gov/local law enforcement that requires judicial review.

Then let's see ALL the evidence from the homicide investigation into this. Let's see ALL the witness statements. Let's find out who authorized the lethal force. Let's find out why he shot but the officers who were actually on the other side of the door standing there next to her didn't even draw their weapons or try to even stop her or even tell her to stop. Why has this been covered up?

 

If you pay attention to his statements, you can see a definitive pattern of "parroting". He very rarely has an independent idea, it's almost always some form of repeating what other people say. I strongly believe that he reads posts on various websites, learns what people are asking and saying and just says that. It gives him a "built in" audience because he knows they are ALREADY thinking about X subject. It's a great manipulative trick that con men use to give the impression they are sincere.

I'm going to write some questions and I would like for you to try to remember the time WHEN these events happened.

Do you recall when he...

• tweeted about loving the Capitol rioters?
• called a Senator to try to push him to stop the certification process (during the actual riot)?
• repeated a speech someone wrote for him after the riots (to distance himself from culpability)?

Do you recall...

• the news about Officer Sicknick dying soon after he returned to the station from the riot?
• two other Capitol police officers killed themselves a few days after the Capitol riot?
• two more Capitol police officers killed themselves last month related to their presence at the riot?

Do you notice anything among all those events?

Answer: Trump has never once acknowledged ANY of the destruction and/or death of ANYONE involved in the Capitol riots. NOT ONCE...until now. So, it's quite clear the motive can't be sincere.

Like all good con men, he is telling people what they want to hear and making them believe it's his idea!

I have absolutely NO evidence that even comes close to the idea that Trump even knows what that word means.

Of course he doesn't care about justice.

He doesn't care about you, me, his supporters, his wife, his kids (except the one he not-so-secretly desires sexually), the hundreds of thousands of dead COVID patients, even more people than that that have lost their businesses, jobs, homes and/or vehicles or anything else except himself.

He simply does not have that capability. And, EXPECTING him to provide that is like carrying a pail to a well you already know is dry. It will NEVER produce water.

To keep us BS and division among us. Beyond that, if history is to be considered, we probably shouldn't worry too much about this coming to fruition. Here's why...he never delivers.

Are you sure you are someone to talk? I'm glad Trump is calling this killer out. We need a clear and transparent investigation. As it is now, we don't even know his stated justification for shooting the small unarmed woman when he was close enough to grab her and put her in cuffs instead.

This! She was crashing through a locked area (a last line of defense) where "targets" were at grave risk give the crazed mob of Trump supporters behind her. She was warned several times and the capitol police were severely outnumbered. Let one in, you lose control of the entire area and then the people you are there to protect become easy prey to the mob.
