The problem is that the only two options (that I know of) are to either decrease the minimum wage to compete with that of a chinese man's wage *excuse me while I laugh* or to put harsh restrictions on exporting jobs. The free market has decided that american unskilled laborers are unprofitable. There is no getting around that without massive starvation.

Not just those produced by american companies. This would drive prices up. Which would be bad. Also, a recent study concluded that net immigration to the US from mexico is around 0. More are leaving for mexico than coming here. So immigration isnt as bad as it once was.

As for your question about import tariffs I do want government to impose import tariffs on all Chinese goods and the manufactured products from other low-wage countries that threaten US workers.

Yes, the cost of imported products would go up but so would the number of jobs available to American workers.
