You heard it right. The Garland Police rep gave out that information on his 11AM press conference this morning. The cop was a simple traffic cop. He wasn't even SWAT or some special duty cop. Good job dude!!!!

"Assault weapon" is a stretch. At least one of the bad guys had a Keltec Sub2000. Its a semiauto carbine that fires pistol caliber rounds. Its a deadly weapon, but will not pierce the body armor of police.

Yes, but unless new details have been forthcoming we do not know the officer's round loads, we do not know what body area he hit, and we do not know if the terrorists were wearing actual 'bullet proof' chest protection or merely something filled as much with wishful thinking as impact absorbing materials. Insufficient data.
since you won't know what the jihadists are wearing-remember the old adage from Mozambique Two in the body, once in the head, make sure the terrorist is really dead! for most people, if two hits in the chest don't stop the violent action-go for the groin area. easier to hit then the head, and will put a Jihadist down quickly
