http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2014/10 Though it's difficult for us to tell in our corner of the world with a mild summer and an early winter, 2014 is set to be a record breaking hot year. Global warming is continuing it's march upward as nothing is being done to limit carbon emissions on an industrial scale.
So, it's not global warming. And you need to keep up with your eco-socialist euphemisms, Bill. It's not "Global Warming" anymore - it's "Global Climate Disruption"...
Those maps are complete bull(*)(*)(*)(*). Southern California has a big red area and we have clearly been cooler this year and the last 5 consecutive years. What kind of crap are you guys peddling? I have owned a house there for 2 decades. I used to have to turn on my A.C. often in Summer months. Over the last 5 years I have turned it on no more than 2 weeks each year. My neighbors all talk about this same cooling to and are puzzled by the claims. If you are passing those charts off as fact data, then those (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s are fixing the data. It's just not true.
That link is referring only to the month of October. What about all the other months? Just because one month was hotter than normal doesn't mean squat. You have to have a pattern of data over a long period of time to make an intelligent scientific conclusion.
If you were in a serious debate, and your opponent presented scientific data and maps, and you presented the above argument, do you honestly think you'd win?
Here in Louisville we have been breaking cold weather records going back to the mid 1800"s. I wish the kooks on the left were right. We've been freezing our ass off here. I like warm weather.....
It's the October update, but it included this bullet point: The combined global land and ocean average surface temperature for the January–October period (year-to-date) was 0.68°C (1.22°F) above the 20th century average of 14.1°C (57.4°F). The first ten months of 2014 were the warmest such period on record. Next time, read the link before dismissing it.
Here is a debate you would lose. A warmer Earth is actually better than what we currently have. Plant and animal species thrive, the diversity grows, and more land opens up for use. Global warming is a good thing and we should do everything in our power to speed the process along.
Certainly not in my neck of the woods. In 2011 we saw over 60 days of 100+ temps. This year, maybe 7 or 8.
You forgot the part about increased drought, desertification and wildfires, as well as the spread of pest species and disease. Oh, and rising sea levels inundating coastal areas, where 70% of humanity lives, and poisoning aquifers with salt water. We evolved for the CURRENT climate, not the climate the dinosaurs had. Anyone who thinks global warming will be a good thing for the current flora and fauna is cracked.
Is it possible for a conservative to respond to this thread with something BESIDES an irrelevant anecdote?
Those maps are bull(*)(*)(*)(*). There is no poll data which is vital. Also, they are a lie. SoCal has had a record set of cool Summers since 2009. Everyone living here knows it.
Global warming brings on climate change and the keyword there is change. While some moderate areas will see more drought or flooding, areas that currently see extreme climate will temper out. That is what change is. Its not bringing in a new dynamic it is simply moving what we already have around. So tornado alley in the Midwest may move to California but Kansas will now be a very nice place to live. And Sea levels are going to rise regardless, its a given even if man were not on the planet but you, like a typical liberal, would rather kick that can down the road then deal with it now. Tell me, how much legislation are the democrats putting forth to fund projects to keep the Sea back? I can tell you. ZERO They would rather let future generations deal with it and give people more food stamps and checks for welfare. Jindahl down in LA has been trying to fortify that city, against liberal opposition, for years now. You folks on the left do nothing but talk and talk....very annoying. So newsflash........the climates going to change and humans will adapt or die out. You apparently want to ignore the problem and let us die out because nobody has the power to stop mother nature.
The satellites disagree. This is very simple NOAA predicted a massive El Nino this year. It didn't happen. So instead they are creating a record out of thin airm
looking at the link I guess this is GISSTemp which is a historical reproduction of temps by a Governmental department headed by a man whose only claim to fame is he is a climate activist...now that is real trustworthy stuff there If they were holding an ice festival in key west in August Hansen would claim the planet was melting
You know what is funny, last night I watched an old episode of "In Search Of," Hosted by Lenard Nimoy. I think the episode was originally aired in 1977, they went in search of the coming ICEAGE. According to the scientist they interviewed, the cooling down period had already started and the new ICEAGE should arrive within a lifetime or two.
So, we evolved for the current changed climate that changed from a previous climate but now are unable to adapt anymore? Are you afraid your iPhone won't work?
Ah, you're referring to this: By the way, didn't Al Gore say that the Earth had about ten years to live before we get scorched? How much time is left?
The left operates on the principle that if you get enough people saying your lies are the truth, then dumb people who don't think for themselves will eventually take you word for it because they are too lazy to look into it themselves. The other day I was at work and the local lefties there insisted I was lying when I said Pelosi said you have to pass the bill before you can see what's in it. They are so uninformed, the ding dongs actually bet me lunch. Then I showed them the video. ....This week I think for my free lunch Ill go with Thai.
Do I need to repeat myself? 2011: Over 60 days of 100+ temps. 2014: Less than 10. You do the math. It's not anecdote. It's fact.
