The choice between Trump and De Santis is like a choice between acid and cyanide poisoning. Both of them lethal and not good options. I think De Santis will carry the State, and that's why he's the current frontrunner. Florida is a key state, perhaps one of the last bastions of conservatism left, along with Texas.

If De Santis can score a victory in Texas, he'll win the GOP Nomination.

Running as independent and splitting votes with GOP, would destroy the GOP in 2024. Having said that, he MIGHT do it for that very purpose, - to destroy GOP as revenge for not nominating him.

He is not going to postpone. He will be campaigning for the next 2 years and run for WH. That's why Florida doesn't really have a governor at this point.

In the primaries? Yes, I think DeSantis would carry FL. It would be closer in Southern red States, but more importantly he would carry lot of blue states like NY and CA, although some of them split points based on win percentage.

It’s hard to believe that someone who performed so badly could believe he is the right man to lead the country.

But then you look at who the man is and you realize that no failure will be disastrous enough to prevent him from declaring victory. So yeah, it makes sense that someone that narcissistic would try to run again.

He will still run even though Conway thinks he won't. He just won the reelection. So, the timing is not right and he has plenty of time to throw his hat into the ring. My guess is that he is talking to mega GOP donors on their willingness or not to support trump and want another candidate.

What he did was stay on script, the "Teleprompter" Trump that had no energy in his announcement. But that will change because Trump will be Trump. The question is if or when Pence, Youngskin, DeSantis, Haley, Noem, and a couple of others will decide to run and my guess is that most will.

A lot of conservative Texans want DeSantis to run. This includes Abbott, Christian, the Texas GOP chair, and about half of the rank and file. Their reasoning is that DeSantis is the best person to make sure that 2024 goes to the Republican in the WH and Congress. And that is all that matters to them.

I want to see how he reacts when he realizes that he can’t draw the same size crowd to his rallies. His rallies will get smaller and smaller and that will also be a sign to other potential candidates that he isn’t invincible.

    If it's Trump vs this:

    https://www.upworthy.com/joe-biden-...ents-as-president-of-the-united-states-so-far

... I'll take the Democrats in a New York minute.

The midterm results are proof that we the people want congress to work for us, not spend all of their time and our taxpayer dollars flinging mud all over everyone who disagrees with them. Enough is enough. It's time for the circus to leave town.

That's a silly prediction. Harris will never win for president, ever. Neither will AOC. It's far from a given that even Biden would win again in 2024, even if Trump is his opponent.

If 2024 is between the incumbent president and the ex-president, there is no gray area. The country knows how both of these men will handle themselves and what they'll do, because they've seen it during their first terms. There will be no "I'll vote for him, maybe he won't be so bad". He'll be bad, no matter which man you choose.

Joe Biden will never do great things, so his best bet as the incumbent right now is to try not to do too many stupid things and hope that the economic climate improves. He could lend a hand to that by relaxing his energy policies, but he probably won't. The Democrats best bet at winning over the moderate vote was Tulsi Gabbard and she's flipped to the Republicans. Joe Manchin might be able to do it, but I've seen absolutely nothing that would give me the impression he's even thought about running.

So if the election in 2024 comes down to the Progressive Yes Man with Alzheimer's versus the Self-Obsessed Manchild Moron, and things haven't improved in this country, all bets are off.

Of course. Does anyone see Trump being magnanimous if he was to lose? Would he throw his support behind the winner and tell all of his followers to support the new GOP nominee? He would burn the house down. He would claim election fraud and attack the winner as a cheater and call for him to be locked up. He would have lawsuits galore again. To prove he was cheated he would run as an independent to show he had more support.

The best thing for republicans is to appease him and throw their support behind him and hope if loses in 2024 he won't run again in 2028.

I don't think Trump would go back to running third party/as an independent. He'd be more likely to just hang around attacking the GOP and fundraising off of it with fake lawsuit announcements. But, yes, whether he runs as an independent or just raises hell, he will do everything in his power to ruin GOP chances of winning.

I think we can all agree Trump would not be a gracious loser. He will not throw his support behind the winner and attend events with him. Can you image if he was like Ted Cruz manning the phone lines for someone like DeSantis. Trump is all about himself and one way or the other he will burn the GOP house down if he loses.

I think it is excellent news for Democrats. The recent Red Wave proved it.

    "Florida Man P26" lol

Trump's absolute favorite Newspaper was "The National Enquirer"
Trump will never live down calling into Fox to inform them that Ted's father, Raphael Cruz, was with Oswald before he shot JFK, there's a photo of him.
Said he saw it in the National Enquirer and no one is paying attention to it terrible, just terrible!
I forget how the Fox people tried (as usual) to cover up his stupidity.

    Snips:
'Trump's Favorite Newspaper Dismisses Him as Simply 'Florida Man'
    Source: MSN

"The once-favorite newspaper of Donald Trump is continuing to further the gap between itself and the former president, dismissing Trump as simply "Florida man" in its coverage of his highly anticipated 2024 presidential run.

As many media outlets rushed to cover Trump's Tuesday night announcement, the New York Post's Wednesday morning edition seemed disinterested in the White House bid, relegating the story to page 26 and leaving the front page with a banner at the bottom that read "Florida Man Makes Announcement."

The Post—whose support as one of Trump's most supportive friends in the media dates back to his 2016 presidential campaign—has recently turned its back on Trump and embraced a new GOP star as the 2024 presidential race begins.

"The morning after Election Day, the Post plastered Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on the cover, dubbing him "DeFuture" in a headline that drew Trump's ire."

His rallies are one thing, mega bucks are another.
It will coast Trump at least 1 billion for the 2024 election cycle, and we know he's a cheap SOB with his own money, he even lied in 2015-16 that he would be financing his own campaign which he didn't.

Around 14 billion was the combined number that politicians put out in 2020 campaigning and iirc: that was 2x as much as the 2016
    campaign.

Biden's 2020 cost a little over a billion and Trump's was under a billion, not by that much,
Trump can't raise those numbers anymore and I highly doubt that Biden could either for 2024;.
They both should be put out to political pasture even though the buzz is that a Trump run for 2024 is a gift to the democrats.

I'm sometimes wondering why the GOP house shouldn't be burned down. Maybe what rises from the ashes would be better.

He definitely is, and finally, other Repubs are seeing it too! He's not mentally well and it shows, which I realize is kinda hard to believe because he's always been mentally ill, but now it happens at a faster rate. Did you see how difficult it was for him to take that sip of water?

No, I only saw a few snips of him.

Yesterday was one of the most humiliating days in our country's history showing that there are Americans that would actually even think of putting this disgrace to of a leader back in power.
    And that's putting it kindly.

Right now? You mean other than the fact that despite the majority of voters believing the country is going in the wrong direction they were still unable to convince them that they could put it on the right track?
