A tariff is applied to goods being imported. A tariff is paid by the entity (corporation or individual or small business owner) who imports those goods. A tarriff makes those goods more expensive for Americans, not the Chinese. The only effect they'll feel is a lowering of demand, which may pinch a little, but the real pain is visited upon we the consumers, because our importers will not eat that extra cost, they'll simply charge that much more for the goods.

Trump doesn't understand this, or didn't until someone finally had the stones to explain it to him, which is when he announced that the new tariffs would be on hold until late December, to spare us from his incompetence until after Christmas.

He doesn't have the authority to levee tariffs or make trade deals either, but no one seems to have the courage to stop him. IMO, he's in violation of the constitution he swore to uphold and protect.

Yes it will lower the demand. And yes it does hurt the consumers. That is why I took exception to the way that Trump is putting the revenue in general funds, I think it should all be allocated back to the consumer in the form of an increased personal exemption on your income tax. And it also has the effect on domestic production orders increase as domestic product becomes more competitive.

I disagree with 1) Trump is Honest 2) Trump is what we needed.

    1) Just because Hillary was a Criminal does not make Trump Honest. The guy has been a scam artist his whole life .. one who would regularly screw contractors (screw the little people). Trump is beholden to his Establishment puppet masters and it is them who he serves.

    2) What we need is someone who is anti establishment - and Trump isn't that. He talks the talk but does not walk the walk. Just because he is an Bull in a China shop does not mean does not mean he is working for the people. It is not that I dislike all of his policies - immigration is an issue that desperately needs to be fixed - but in general he has not addressed any of systemic issues with respect to our economic future and his foreign policy is killing our economic future - along with the trade war.

You forgot "Canada" on your list - the nation that we pretty much own - but somehow they are taking advantage of us because Canadians like to spend their money in the US buying shoes and then smuggle them back into Canada.

Trump has been running around using a big stick to bully our allies into submission - even threatening the "nuclear option" (locking that nations banks our of the international system of payments). This has caused a huge backlash in these nations who have responded with the strongest language imaginable "your messing with our sovereignty" - not in private - but in public on the international stage.

Our international corporations used to be front of the line - VIP status. Now we lucky to be in the line and if so just part of the pack. While Trump is going around beating nations into submission - China and Russia are doing deals. We are getting the middle finger ..in a way that I have never seen in the modern history of the US.
