    According to CalTech today the 7.1 earthquake in Ridgecrest felt like a 3. in the L.A. metro area yesterday evening if a 3. earthquake epicenter were have been in L.A.

    Ridgecrest got hit pretty hard yesterday.

    It was reported this morning that the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station is not mission capable right now.

    The Navy's massive base in China Lake, California, has ordered an evacuation for non-essential personnel after recent earthquakes have rendered the installation "not mission capable," a message posted on the base's Facebook page says.

    Thats a lot of roads, tarmac, and airstrip to look over.

    Im presuming there is significant damage.

    Ridgecrest and such desert areas with growing populations

    are HOPE for the California Republican party.

    BTW my father use to own an AM radio station there.
    A plague on our family, it was.
    We might spend an occasional weekend there.
    Lake Isabella and the Kern River are nearby.

    I used to white water raft down the Kern.

    There are some natural waterslides in the area too.

    More Patriots live on the coast by far. Probably 20-1. More scorpions and rattlesnakes live in eastern California. You are losing it.

    The earthquake hit in Kern County, where 53% voted for Trump.

    Over 4 million people in California voted for Trump. 3rd most from any state in the Union.

    So yeah, I guess God has it out for them for being such sh*theads.

    Well eastern California has the most deadliest and meanest rattlers, the Mojave rattlesnake the deadliest snake in America and the Western diamondback, a snake with an attitude problem and the sidewinder,

    I would bet there are more Pacific Rattlesnakes in western California.

    There are still rattlesnakes slithering around on the Palos Verdes peninsula !

    And who was the idiot who introduced the peacock on the PV peninsula ?

    That was back when America was great and California was still the Golden State and California had the best public school system in the country, the best roads and highways, was extremely business friendly, low taxes, and personal freedoms that no longer exist in California today.

    I suppose it depends on how its defined. Earthquakes can still cause severe damage and kill people, and the likelihood of that goes up every year as buildings get older and go through more quakes. The 'Big One' will be the first one that is economically ruinous, not because of the strength of the quake, but the sheer damage it does, sort of like hurricanes...

    They are, but a few fallen freeway overpasses would have to be repaired by someone. America really can't afford another Detroit, especially in Hollyweird, they have cameras and get attention. I'm just surprised nobody has blamed this on climate change yet...
