Based on the trailer, the sequel looks horrific.

The equivalent of comparing a velvet Elvis painting to DaVinci's Mona Lisa.

Why mess with a classic. I'm guessing Hollywood has run out of creative ideas and/or are not willing to take risks with unconventionality.

So we have re-makes, Comic book themed movies and romantic comedies.

Some of the comic movies are pretty good though...

This Christmas Story thing will certainly be an atrocity...

    We've already had two Spidermans.

Doesn't that smack of unoriginal thinking for the screenwriters?

They fall back on formulaic plots.

I know, but, things are always being reimagined...

Maybe the new director for Spiderman felt the original wasn't what it should've been, and, is now able to put his vision out there...

    Just saying...

Plus, that's the only one that's been rebooted...

Mad Max is being re-made. I'm anticipating a crap fest.
As nutty as Mel Gibson is in his personal life, his character "Mad Max" was brilliant in those post-apocalyptic themed movies.

I hear you, in that, some things should be left alone...

We're in agreement A Christmas Story stood on it's own. There's no need for a sequel 30 years later, but it will make money on DVD sales I'm sure
    if not the box office.

It's a stright-to-DVD/Blu-ray release, so, we don't have to worry about the theaters being polluted with this garbage...

I just genuinely hope that people ignore it, for the most part...

I think most genuine fans of the original will dismiss it altogether...

The rest won't know it enough to care...

    Hopefully...

Straight to DVD, along with the other classics like talking Golden Retrievers playing football.

Maybe A Christmas Story 2 will keep 3 year olds occupied for 30 minutes or so...but I'm hoping any adult who sits down to watch it
will recognize the stink prior to investing an hour and a half of their life.

What's worse, the kid playing Ralphie doesn't look a thing like me!

    Rip off.

Why did they waste their time making this when we clearly need Terminator 5 or Transformers 4?

You now know how I feel when I heard "Total Recall" was being remade with Colin Ferrell. The new version bombing in the box office did cheer me up a bit, though.

Don't worry, there's no way it can be as bad as Indiana Jones 4 (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) was.

Or any of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels for that matter.

Couldn't agree with you more about the Indiana Jones movie. Easily one of the worst and most disappointing movies I've ever seen.

For real - that one was almost to Indiana Jones what "Batman and Robin" was to the 90s Batman film series.

Don't worry. Just keep telling yourself it never happened and it will just go away. Kind of like Sandlot 2 or Beethoven 6

Lucas just wants to solidify the idea that any talent he once had is long gone. He's killing his franchises one by one. I'm surprised Spielberg was dumb enough to sign on for that turd.

I heard that Lucas is planning to release a Star Wars live action series - think that'll be any good? Not sure how you feel about the Star Wars prequels - the last two were very good, the Phantom Menace, not so much - had way too much of a "kiddie" atmosphere.

I didn't like the newer Star Wars movies, either. They were better than Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, though, but that's not saying a whole lot.

I have no faith in anything Lucas does nowadays.

I loved what they did with Palpatine, and how they extrapolated on his rise to power - he was a very good and memorable villain. I wasn't so big on Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), he was probably the worst character in the the films.

Great, thanks for ruining my day...

Yet another reminder that hollywood has no good ideas left, every year they regurgitate another film that's already been made, but HEY LOOK IT'S IN 3D!!!
