His speech was once again a lie to make it about him and an insult to all of those who lost everything.

I missed the part where he said they would get tk the bottom if WHY the fire occurred and why it got out of control and that anyone who has any responsibility will be held accountable.

Look the reality for any President is that response to disasters natural or man made are pre-planned and practiced operations. The KEY players are the state and local emergency management teams. Not only do they train and plan inter-state they do so with other states. They know the lay of the land, they know all the local officials and private groups and individuals with valuable resources. They know the local media. They know police and fire and rescue and doctors and hospitals.

When we get hit by hurricanes where I live we and our local officials are not sitting around waiting for the federal government let alone a President to order us what to do. During that storm it is not the federal government trying to maintain servcies and afterwards get them quickly restored and rescue operations underway. Even the power companies and their HUGE numbers of crews that come from other states is between them not some government order. FEMA comes in after the fact in a SUPPORTING roll. They have additional supplies and funds.

It starts with the governor making the request and the President signing. All this "and I ORDERED" this and that is nonsense they sign a piece of paper and the wheels on the federal side start turning in well laid out plans.

What is being pointed out here is the President’s role as communicator and a voice for those efforts on the federal side. Quite frankly Presidents coming only causes disruption and we should just agree they should speak out but stay away. The heads of FEMA and Secretary of Homeland Security are high enough and actually have roles to play.

These visit usually end up in a disaster of his own making as here for Biden or something their opposition misrepresents to turn it against them ala Bush and Katrina. Presidents don't need to be jn the scene until much later if at all.

In January 2022, Biden told Colorado wildfire victims he "almost" lost his home to the fire and that the fire destroyed about 25% of it. But when speaking to the Summit on Fire Prevention and Control in October 2022, he said the smoke from the fire destroyed "everything" from the basement to the attic, and that "we almost lost a couple firefighters" who responded to the blaze.

In November 2021, Biden said he "had a house burn down with my wife in it. She got out safely, God willing."

Biden’s comments Monday to the victims in Maui drew comparisons to when the president was accused of showing a lack of empathy to the Gold Star families of the service members killed by a terrorist attack in Kabul during the Afghanistan military withdrawal in 2021.

Several Gold Star families recalled Biden repeatedly talking about the death of his son Beau, who served in Iraq with the Army but ultimately died of brain cancer in 2015.

Following the death of her brother in Kabul, Cheyenne McCollum said the president would not look her family in the eye and spent their three-minute conversation talking about Beau.

"I was able to stand about 15 seconds of his fake, scripted apology, and I had to walk away,"

For those familiar with the aftermath of devastating fires like these (as many of us in Australia are), you would realise that, even if the call for help goes out immediately, it may take a week or more to gather together and transport the necessary resources to the affected area/s.

Our hapless friend ignores this, in his zeal to pin something on the US President, as a means of deflecting from his own clay-footed hero's woes...

YOU claimed that it was 10 days after the fire that FEMA put troops on the ground.
Again, that was a lie...YOU inflated the time by 25%...gee, I wonder why...?
Finally, YOU haven't done sufficient research....but then, that's typical of your average MAGA man...just make claims and don't worry about the facts. You see, the AVERAGE lag time for FEMA to physically react to a disaster can be between 10 AND 30 DAYS, depending upon the nature of the disaster, its location, continuing hazards, etc. So the 8 DAYS that elapsed before troops were 'on the ground' would be very much within expectations...

Besides that I proved that it took FEMA the time between "last Thursday" to "This weekend" to get there. That does mean they packed their bags on Friday and arrived there the next day on Saturday or Sunday. You linked that a specific team landed there, as if that is all that FEMA is. It's not.
